Subject: Memories from your first play-through on Campaign

Heaven has no rage like love to hatred turned,
Nor hell a fury like a woman scorned.

I was pretty young when I first picked up CE. Remember bein freaked out when the Flood was finally introduced. Bungie had done a great job of making it mysterious with that sort-of flashback thing. Plus feeling trapped inside that complex created a sense of desperation as you tried to escape an unstoppable hoard of Flood.

Just one that stuck with me. Liked the game overall though. Very memorable all around.

My brother didn't remember to switch levels, so we played through the Flood mission at least five times before we figured out that we could switch. Fail.

I'm out of chips.

Aww man, 343 Guilty Spark. Walking out of that ship in the swamp and shooting a few covenant. Then I heard the marine talking on the staticy radio, and the silhouettes of the flood in the background, it scared the living crap out of me. That whole level I was just thinking: This game is freaking awesome.

ha i remember calling the elites "Those blue guys" but then i read the manual and i started calling the enemies by their real names, but i still call jackals "Shield guys"

i think that i thought the Truth and Reconciliation was a human ship

and i also remember seeing the flood the first time, i was playng coop and they were not so scary then, but when i played it solo a day later i was pretty scared.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

I find the whole damn game memorable. :) What sticks with me the most is the music. The way the music slowly builds up as you're fighting your off way The Pillar of Autumn totally enthralled me. It's great right up to the Drum Run when you re-visit the wreck of that fine ship.

The first time I ever played Halo was at a friends house. We played the Maw on co-op and it was so epic. That was the moment that hooked me from then on. I still remember the feeling, gunner in the back of the Warthog while my buddy drove, gunning at little Flood dudes. Im a huge Halo fan now and that is the moment I attribute it to.

Under the sign of the Cobra

Oh Lawd, the first time through was magical. Fighting off the Piller of Autumn cand crash landing on Halo was mind blowing. Every level was insane. What really made the game for me was how vast the enviroments were. The best part about it all was you had no idea how big the impact of what you were doing would be. Best weapons too.

Some asses just aren't worth the trouble.

I remember how the flood scared me when i saw them when i was 10. I called "Bugs".

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

Being absolutely terrified by the level 343 Guilty Spark whilst in the swamp, late at night with surround sound on. And piling up Flood corpses en masse whilst on the Library with my friend on Legendary.

The most beautiful level has to be the Truth and Reconciliation though, I completely agree it's just so atmospheric with Marty's phenominal soundtrack supporting the tense and yet everchanging gameplay.

I had my own names for the Covenant races too:
Elites - Big Daddies
Grunts - Grubs
Jackal - Vultures
Hunter - Rhino

My first time, I finished The Maw with under a second left. How lucky is that?

My brother in law got it for me from a yard sail it was the greatest game i ever played but sadly i could only play four levels.

  • 04.08.2010 1:15 PM PDT

The 2nd/3rd best game that will ever be.
2nd/3rd cause I can't decide.

I played it from start to finish with my brother, I remember killing captain keyes and fighting the invincible marines (and actually having them run away one time). I remember playing the 2nd level tons of times, running from the dropship across the bridge to the trees, having one guy run back to activate the covenant guys, then running back and pistol-sniping them all. Sniping enemies with the night vision sniper on Truth & Reconciliation, driving the warthog into the water on the silent cartographer and getting lost. Not being able to find my way to the golden elite on the silent cartographer, and I LOVED assault on the control room (trying to get the banshee before the elite could) & the maw. Also not knowing how to get out of 343 guilty spark.

tl;dr AMAZING GAME. If you didn't play this with another person (my brother), then you missed out. If you didn't play it at all, go get it.

EXTREME PREJUDICE

I remember being stuck in the hangar on Truth & Reconciliation for a few days because I was too wimpy to take on the Jackals on the upper levels. They had pinned me down by the door where the Hunters come out from.

Also chasing the friendly blips on the motion tracker on 343 GS. Never found anyone :|

That was so bloody creepy. I saw these silhouettes in the distance with friendly IFFs on the radar, I tried to follow them but they ran away. All this was backed up by the amazing soundtrack and murky scenery.
