You can't kill the Metal

Can you install ODST on your hard drive and then put Halo 3 in the drive and be able to use the new maps on Halo 3?

PEANUT-BUTTER SLAP!

No.

While both game discs can be installed on an Xbox 360 hard drive, only Disc One was optimized for installation. Disc Two should not be installed, as doing so will hinder online performance.

There's no clear benefit to installing Disc One, aside from slightly reduced load times. For example, you can not run the Disc One content off of your hard drive using Disc Two in the system tray, which would eliminate the need for disc swapping.

Aaaahhhh! Bungie strikes again.

So I have to buy the same maps again to play Halo 3 on two different xboxes.

Should've bought ODST. It comes with a complete Multiplayer game disc that can be used on ANY Xbox 360!!!

Doesen't the Multiplayer Disc retrieve all your data whether or not its your original xbox?

Wait, what?

If you have the multiplayer disk that came with ODST, regardless of what Xbox 360 console you are using, you can still play the multiplayer component (granted that you have a Live Gold Membership, of course.)

I have an Xbox in the living room for me and my son has one in his room. I have one copy of ODST and one copy of Halo 3 and I want to play the new maps on both xboxes at the same time.

Possible?

Major C.B.

I'm personally of the opinion that they should have stuck to one disc. Maybe have a "Main" menu, where you pick whether you want to play ODST or Halo 3 Multiplayer. From there it takes you to the game you want. For someone whose disc drive is broken and it takes me an hour or so to get a disc to work, I can honestly say disc switching is just annoying. 2 games - 1 disc would've ultimately been better. And I'm pretty sure if they can program 1 game, 2 discs; they can probably find some workaround for 2 games, 1 disc. That's just my take on it. I don't even know if one disc could support enough memory with the limited space Microsoft allows, but it'd sure be convenient.

Not unless you purchase the map packs for the Halo 3 disc, too.
