well one day i got a massage when i turned on my computer saying:
you have not connected the power extent ion cable to your Radeon 9800 video card. please refer to your getting started guide!!!
this came as a surprise to me since it Had been hooked up for 7 months now. so i checked the connections and knottiest this: a burnt spot on the connection to the graphics card! the fan still ran but it wasn't getting enough power to do anything else. now, normally this could be easily fixed by replacing the connection that fired, the problem is, it wont come off! any suggestions?

I'd say desolder the power conection plug from the graphics card, and solder a new one on. Should be easy to do. I've replaced tons of capacitors on videocards that were leaking and the solder points are very small, so If I can do this, you could easily solder a new connection back on. The only hard par would be to find one. Send me a message an IM on AIM and i could help you. tmh88j is my sn

honestly the only explanation as to why it fried in that spot is that the red wire was a bit poorly made on the power extent ion, because that thing is blacker than an over cooked hot dog on the inside. taking it off and re-soldering on a new one is the only way to salvage it, but I've never soldered anything on a board like this before so i rather not frell with what i do not yet understand. pulse i have nothing to solder with. but if it comes to that i will half to find an old graphics card at the place my mom works, that way if i mess up, who cares! it was desten for the trash anyways. any-who, I'm gonna call ATI and see if they will fix it. it's not even a year old yet and the card has a 3 year warranty, so it shouldn't cost me anything.
untill i get it fixed i'm stuck using my old GeForce MX 440, so i dont have much gaming plained untill then...
