I am very curious about this and I couldn't find an answer in the search bar. Does anyone know what the luminescent pictographs on almost every wall called? What they mean?

I think they might be forerunner but this is Earth . . . .

Well, we're fairly sure they're engineer markers. Technically not forunner.

But the only purpose they serve is essentially being guideposts without the sign that reads: "Go this way"

Uhh, partly. There are two kinds of glyphs that tell that a Beacon is nearby, and the same glyphs DO act as guideposts from time to time.
All of the glyphs don't have that meaning though: The empty glyph are seen near Dead Elites, possibly referring them to have some kind of respecting purpose. The rest of the glyphs - most of the glyphs with SI face - don't have any clear meaning. A mystery to solve...
And there infact, is some discussion going on in the forum about glyphs: here.

What do you mean by "Beacon".
