when i try to join a halo 1 multiplayer game, it tries to connect to the server, then retries four times until it displays "can't join game." I'm connected to game spy, and I have a fast and working broadband connection. My halo game is fully updated and so is my gamespy.

Can somebody help me, when I used search-bar, nothing showed up.

Is it XBC you're attempting?

I'm assuming you mean Halo PC/Custom Edition by the fact that you mentioned Gamespy. I'd firstly suggest deactivating any software firewalls (ZoneAlarm is particularly bad with Halo) and then trying a connection.

Also, the error you describe only really happens when the ping is above 500ms; try joining a server closer to you by sorting the server browser by latencey (click the ping tab on the upper-right).

If the error still persists, post your router model and name so we can get some port forwarding instructions for you.

Best of luck.

Yep, first is to drop your router, or make Halo & Halo Custom Edition exceptions.

Second, you'll want to check your connection speed.

Third, you'll want to host a game yourself. Keep the game open for about 30 minutes, or until a whole bunch of people join. Find out the Ping after they join. Remember to interact and talk so they don't leave. This last step is just to make sure you can get it working.
