Halo: Combat Evolved ( XBOX ):
-It set a new standard for the future of FPS's and Gaming. It won the 2001 Game of the Year award and 3 years later, it remains one of the most popular and best selling games in the game industry. It is considered the greatest launch title and FPS game of all time.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time ( N64 ):
-It was the most successfully translated 2D to 3D game of its time. It won the 1999 Game of the Year award and is still considered one of, if not the greatest Adventure game of all time.

Metal Gear Solid ( PSOne ):
-Another successfully translated 2D title into complete 3D, and it was the most cinematic game of its time. It introduced new special effects, top notch quality voice acting, memorable music, an unforgettable storyline and cast, and stealth gameplay that would influence many stealth games of today.

Grand Theft Auto 3 ( PSOne ):
-Once again, a very successfully translated 2D game into 3D. Probably the most controversial game of 2001, GTA 3 took gaming to another level with freedom, exploration, and multiple gameplay types that appealed to millions of gamers and started one of the biggest fan bases in gaming.

Half Life ( PC ):
-Scripted events and quite possibily the best told story of its time. Interactivity and complete immersion were other key successes for this FPS. It took top Game of the Year honors and is considered the game that influenced many sci-fi shooters today such as Halo.

Final Fantasy VII ( PSOne ):
-It was the game to completely revolutionize RPG's and the Final Fantasy series. It separated itself from previous installments with beautifully rendered 3D graphics, a new battle system, and FMV's that would soon be what Square Soft would be best known for in the game industry.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic ( XBOX ):
-Just as Final Fantasy VII revolutionized RPG's for its time, this title managed to once again bring RPG's into a new realm of freedom, depth, and cinematic proportions. Not only is it considered one of, if not the greatest RPG of all time, it is probably the best told Star Wars storyline ever and it stands as the best Star Wars game ever created.

Metroid Prime ( GC ):
-Probably the most successfully translated 2D game to 3D since The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. While many thought it was a FPS, it was the first game of its kind blending FPS elements with Platform/Adventure elements which resulted in one of the most original and best Adventure games of all time.

This list may actually be mistaken as "The Most Influencial Games Of All Time", and now that I think about it, it is VERY difficult to come up with the greatest game of all time. Interpret this as you wish. If I had to choose one game...it would have to be Halo. Just look at what it has done to the Game Industry and to Gamers in the last 3 years! Halo 2 will only pick up where the original Halo left off, and thats a lot for people to handle.
