and yes thats a ps3.... DON'T HATE, EMBRACE!

Hey guys, I just got a new laptop with windows 7 Premium Edition. I created an account (as the administrator) and I installed Halo CE. I went to go online, and it says "You must have administrative privileges to install updates" I don't understand why it would do that, seeing as I am logged into the administrative account on the computer. Anyone having this problem and may have a solution, would be much appreciated.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

You have to deliberately run as administrator, even if you already are one. Should be in the right-click menu.

Go into the Halo folder and run Haloupdate.exe.

I can't create a new topic yet, =(. But I need help regarding Windows 7 as well. I am -not- able to host a server.. For some reason..

Before I begin, I want to state that I do -know- what I'm doing, and I have had this server up in the past before.

So, I had this server up and running (full most of the time too) 3-4 months ago. Now, whenever I run it, it starts up like normal, and the normal "server running <map> 0/16" prints every 5 seconds or whatever. However, when I try to join it, it keeps saying either "Negotiating connection" or "joining game ip:random port" where random port is a.. random port, not the port specified in my .bat. My brother is able to connect, but by direct IP only (Same network). I asked a few of my friends to join by direct ip/port, but they were unable to. I checked if the port visible, and apparently, uTorrent and seemyport.com say it's not open. The server PC has DMZ enabled, since I host a whole ton of stuff on there.. All my other servers ports work fine, uTorrent's port works (41241) my FTP server port works fine (8811, 21 is blocked by my ISP) HTTP server port works (9131, again 80/8080 blocked by ISP). All my friends (outside of my network) are able to connect to FTP and HTTP. Just the halo ports do not work. I have tried launching the exe alone, and still nothing.. Different ports won't work either.

(software firewalls are letting haloceded.exe accept and transmit all network connections as well)
Anyone know what's going on?

Something smells fishy...

If you haven't done this already:
1. Forward all necessary ports for Halo.
2. In the network settings of Halo change server and client ports to 2304, 2305. See Haloded.exe defaults to 2302, 2303. there is some sort of conflict.

I've used Haloded.exe with Windows 7. In my experience, for some reason, the Windows 7 firewall would not recognize that I'd previously allowed Haloded.exe. So the firewall would block Haloded.exe. What I did was:
1. Go into the Windows 7 firewall and remove Haloded.exe and any others with Haloded.exe in the title.

I'm talking about HaloCEDed.exe

I've confirmed the same results on a diferent computer, different network, same OS. I asked my friend (Who also knows what he's doing) to host a server on his gaming PC. He also checked for the open ports, in his case 14231. He correctly forwarded the port, and allowed it in his firewalls. We tried joining, it does the same thing. We see it, but it gets stuck on negiociating connection to server. After a few seconds, it goes to connecting, but this time the IP and the port are correct, but it keeps retrying. He also checked the port with seemyport and uTorrent's port checker, said it was closed. He checked his P2P software's port, and it said it was open. So I'm sure it's something to do with the server itself. We both are using Windows 7 Ultimate x86. I'm going to check x64 from my laptop tonight.

On my server PC, Windows Firewall is disabled, Kaspersky took over. I also disabled Kaspersky Firewall to test this, same results.
