I really hope you enjoy this fan-fic. I was inspired by the amazing environments I journied through on my latest re-play of Halo: CE's campaign.

The Last Days on Halo 04
Chapter 1: Guard of the Big, Red Button

The warming light blooming from the star "Soell" did not pass through into Sari's perfect, stabilised armour suit, but he still felt it's soothing warmth in his mind. He lowered his view from the clear blue sky and the glorious sun, as he remembered his strict purpose, his final purpose: defend Didact. Let him be ready to activate the Array should the Maginot Sphere fail. In remembering this creed, this purpose, this one task he must do in order to make sure the galaxy is wiped clean, he stood ready at the main entrance of the Library, and saw his own white-armoured hands grip his Energy Rifle.

Sari looked across to the other side of the entrance, where another Mantle Commando stood with an energy rifle, ready to obliterate any Flood that might turn up. Both of them stood at the 50ft archway that was the entrance to Halo 04's Library, its astonishing, enigmatic and grey profile showing that the Forerunner Empire that had remained for thousands of the years was still alive, albeit barely. Blue energy ran through the small vein-like dips on its surface, adding to the grandeur of it all. And in an instant, Sari felt incredibly lonely.

Every ounce of his conciousness suddenly began thinking about what was happening, and the scale of it. Here he was, on this sun-blessed, perfect landscape, at the doorway to the machine that would destroy the galaxy's sentient life. There was no sound in this ringworld; only the occasional calling of a native bird or the sound of Forerunner Patrol Craft cruising quietly in the ringworld's atmosphere. Sari could fall asleep in the tranquility of the sun-blessed land. It was a paradise, a last feeling of harmony before Didact would clean the galaxy, and make it as anew as it was so many billions of years ago.

Stay tuned for Chapter Two. Things will start getting interesting then, I promise; this was just the intoduction to TLDH04. And obviously, thos chapters will be longer too.

The Razor.

For the honour of the Mirratord.

Pretty good so far :D Great description of the environment, and you successfully captured the sense of awe and wonder the original game had. I can see you are devoted to describing the beauty of the Halo ring.

Well done, looking forward to more.

Thank you very much, I'm glad I managed to get the feel across! I was worried I was being too hasty/brief in the describing, but if you say it's good, then thanks! Next chapter, I'm hoping to start the story of how Sari copes with Flood Counter-attacks and also the fact that everything he knows, the technology of the galaxy and the way things are is going to be absolutely destroyed and wiped away in a second.

That sounds great! That is a very interesting theme you are exploring; how everything in the entire universe began in the blink of an eye, and that it can end that way too. Make sure you deal with the main characters feelings and beliefs about this idea, perhaps how he deals with the destruction of everything. Or not, as the case may be.

Very much looking forward to more :D
