Subject: Campaign gone and broke itself...

I got ODST when it came out and finished it a few months ago on Legendary (both single and co-op).

Having not played it for a while, I thought I'd run through campaign again on easy and get all the audio logs for the audiophile achievement. So I go "start solo game" and when the game starts...

(1) In the very beginning when the rookie is in his drop pod it doesn't do that control/visr calibration thing. No biggie, but...
(2) Once the rookie's fallen out onto the ground and I've run around a bit, the hud tutorial won't trigger and I don't have the compass/waypoint marker up the top of my screen and I can't access the visr database...
(3) The directional guides that the superintendent gives you via up on the d-pad don't show.
(4) I ran around the map to where some flashback missions trigger and where audio logs should be and none of them are available.

It also does this if I load "prepare to drop" from the "replay mission" menu; though there's no problem playing the individual flashback missions. It seems like the city bit of the campaign is totally wacked... As such, I can't play through campaign normally from start to finish, which is kinda annoying. Help?

I know this may be obvious, but try to clean the disk. And I mean clean it with a proper product, not toothpaste and crap like that.....

Umm what do you mean by a proper product? My previous experience in disc cleaning is pretty much wiping them down with my t-shirt =)

its doesn't do the tut sometimes cause well.... you beat it, so you may not need the tut. in the beginning, KILL EVERYTHING, in the sense of all the enemies in the beginning. <- works for me when I dont start with the compass or any thing.

As far as other stuff, when you calibrate the first time you normally don't do it again.

Oh and when you kill all the enemies the Com Center starts to ring then it enables your compass and other stuff.

My guess is that somewhere along the line, bungie updated and made it like that? I don't know just thats what I did when I ran into the EXACT same problems as you.

Oh and I forgot, um you need to find the clues to unlock certain audio logs and caches. It happened to me, one certain audio file wasn't available, then I played through bucks mission and viola, it unlocked for me.

@ No Please:
Thanks muchly!! Killing everything in the first area worked. Once everything was gone the visr/superintendent thing triggered.
Cheers.
