Does anyone agree that the Bungie team should start a "Bungie.net Podcast"? I mean, you can't take over the world in writing... you have to be heard. - I know I would subscribe.

Podcast.

Anyhow, it's not entirely impossible, but I don't know if it'd be something we'd have time to do on a regular basis.

Yeah, thats cool. It would be a novel idea if one could find the time.
Thanks for the reply...

That would be really cool. Major Nelson's is quite good. It would probably go hand-in-hand with the WWU (maybe once a month though). It does seem, however, that Frankie and Sketch have quite a lot to do. They do so much that we never hear about. Perhaps another person should join the Bungie boat to provide web content...

I've had this idea simmering for a while to make a weekly (or something) podcast about Bungie and these forums. Sort of a week in review kind of thing - summing up what the big issues were, and what the stupid little boring things were that the people in the Flood talked about, as well as a bit of a scan of the major community websites, and maybe even clarify some things that people don't get, even after being told hundreds of times that "Putting any form of modified content on your Xbox is against the terms of use", or whatever.

There are three main obstacles I can see:

* I don't have a decent microphone.

* I hate the sound of my voice. No, really. It's OK when I'm talking, since your voice always sounds different after bouncing through your skull (or something), but in recording I suck. I dunno. Maybe everyone feels the same (my friends think they sound stupid too), and it's just because it's weird to hear your own voice sound so different to what your used to. Who knows. Anyway, that's a reason that I'm hesitant to do this.

* It would be too much work. :D Between moderating here, and my regular job, I don't get too much spare time that I want to spend doing more work. You guys might need some way of motivating me to become less of a lazy bugger.

So, yeah. If someone else wants to do something like this, by all means do it. I think it'd be cool if it came from the community.

That would be cool, although I have no idea what kind of work would have to go behind it, I'm not to savvy when it comes to html.

Major Nelson, especially after his interview with Sketch, would probably be more than willing to help out. He's got lots of explanations on how he records his 'cast.

A unified message every week or so could go a long way towards clearing up issues on the site. The idea could probably gain ground over at HBO. Some of the fan sites do weekly updates anyway in machinima.

It would probably be the only one I'd be interested in subscribing to, so far everything else out there now doesn't really appeal to me.

This idea came up at the bar the other day. Well, the idea of doing a podcast and at least dedictating a bit to the Bungie.net forums. I'm looking into doing it.

That will probably garner me more flame than I have ever received.

I thought about the possibly of a Bungie.net podcast formatted similarly to diggnation, (highlighting and discussing news topics and posts casually) but I just don't have the time and energy to devote to it.

Would anyone be interested in hearing a couple moderators shoot the breeze about Bungie.net stuff?

Well, time immemorial ago an idea struck me involving in-depth community news (aka flood -blam!-ing) in the form of a Bungie.net Herald.. an internet newspaper of sorts (this was before Podcasts, mind you!). And people could submit articles and stories to add to the newsletter. The idea struck me when viewing this, which is a prime archetype. Of course some objects in the example won't match up with Bungie.net, but imagination is power!

I would be very supportive of this idea if enough bend for this was given. While I'm thinking about it, I'm curious to see something like this take place.. hrm. Fanciful or not, still very interesting.

..and that my friends, is my 7 cents.

Wow. Very nice idea. It would certainly be easier than podcasts and i'd also be more than willing to help out with it. Yeah... i can see it now. "Worst forum of the week." Choices choices ;)

I'd help with it if I had a couple guys to help me out, so if anyone is interested drop me a line anyway you can.

I know that this is Major's Setup

I can see some of the content that we could provide. I think its a good idea.

Its a pity it would only be itunes users that would mainly benefit. If i didn't have an ipod i would be using wmp10.

Assuming you could download it, just burn it to a disk, delete the original and put the file back on the computer, it becomes unlocked and able to play on anything.

I'll be on my own side.

it would be interesting to get the WWU's in audio form. We can hear Frankie's blundering in all its "goodness"

Hmmm a Podcast, haven't heard of them in a long time, sounds tasty.

  • 07.30.2005 10:20 PM PDT

So it would be people just talking about forum posts and repeating what's on HBO and the weekly whats update? I dunno...is that really all that could be in a podcast? What sort of original content could it have? Would people really listen to something that just repeats what people probably read on the web already? If it was done that's only really like 10 minutes of material anyway...is that the usual length for podcasts? (caveat: the only podcasts I've listened to are repeats of Air America)
