Halo 3: ODST, formerly known as Halo 3: Recon, was going to be a Halo 3 expansion. In the end, Halo 3: ODST turned out to be a full-game; campaign, firefight, theater mode, and the Halo 3: Mythic disc.

Don't forget that your Halo 3: ODST disc is the key to the Halo: Reach Beta on May 3rd!

I completly agree. Halo 3:ODST is not a filler. It has the final vidmaster achievents to unlock the legendary Recon Armor. You don't seem to see what Halo 3:ODST really is. Its like the biggest add-on to Halo 3.

Sure, the lack of Matchmaking support a downside, but other projects like Halo: Reach and the new Bungie IP were in the process of fine tuning.

The success of Halo 3: ODST wasn't as large as past Halo titles, but in my mind, still has great potential to audiences everywhere.

Minimal Casualties, Maximum Effectiveness.

well i didnt really wanna purchase Legendary and Mythic maps cause i knew they would eventually be free, or not free just come in another manner.
Get my $60 and bam! i have goodies galor!

ODST is something to keep us pumped, busy, and training with Halo till reach!

All I ask is that you don't try to capture me.

^ That's the positive way to put it.

Halo 3:ODST was a cash grab/expansion made to fill the gap between H3 and Reach. It's short and doesn't have much replay value. I don't think there's many people that could effectively argue otherwise.

Perhaps there should be a stickied thread stating this so we don't get too many repeat threads.

I thought ODST was a pretty damn good game and I certainly didn't mind paying 60 bucks for it.

The Forum Ninjas are asleep.

ODST was DEFINITELY a filler but it'll still be worth it because of the Reach invitation.

Agreed, but I thought it was a good game. Sure the hell have played worse that cost $60.

I feel like it was maybe not worth the full price of a game to the average person. I LOVED the campaign. It is my favorite campaign, and they went in new directions, and I totally support that. I think Halo has alot of storytelling potential if they keep going the direction that they were going in ODST.

Looks like it's paying off by the looks of Reach. A squad of characters, epic story, new weapon dynamics. Halo can break out of it's old shell.

This is sort of off-topic, but I think that since they have introduced so many weapons into the halo universe, they should start looking potentially towards going in the direction of battlefield or call of duty with shooter gameplay. Halo gameplay has always had one gun that does one job, but it would be interesting to see a 64 player halo with lots of vehicles, different models of assault rifles, attachments, DMRs, BRs, SMGs, etc.

The best filler A game could have!

I still enjoy this Add on now! Which is far more than I can say for the likes of Fallout 3 and Borderlands!

It was so Bungie could get some more profit independently.

From Cyro to Meta

No i do not agree. But that is all i got to say about that

It may have been a filler,... but it was a damn good filler. Plus, I liked the ODST campaign more than I did the Halo 3 campaign. Plus, the whole non-regenerating health thing meant I actually had to use my brain for a change...

It's an obvious fact that just about everyone knows.

Basically Bungie pushed this game out to keep all of us kiddies full until we could our hands on Reach.

Think about it. The campaign was fairly short, no theater, no servers for Fire Fight, and a bonus disk that just gave us everything we already owned.

And this forum is an example of what it's come to. Dead.

Agree?

Yes. It was an overgrown expansion. However, I will give Reach a chance.

If by 'filler' you mean 'failure', the I agree.
