Read the following this is to help all of those who want or are getting xbox live for halo 2 ect.
Also I'm sorry if this doesn't belong in this forum I'm just trying to help & unite all halo players on xbox live.

You can use as many 2 month things as you want, but I'd buy a starter kit, which comes w/ a game & a mic. So basically once you get it all setup you'll have a full year free, & you'll be asked if you want to continue use of live towards the end of the year, which will cost another 50 $, use a credit card.
So basically heres all you need:

Starter kit-70.00
Router {D-link is good look for xbox logo on box } 50.00
2 ethernet cables- 7.00 or 14.00
Cable/DSL internet- 30.00 - 50.00 a month, I got comcast cable internet it's 49.99 a mnth
Be sure your computer has a ethernet port in the back it looks like a system link port, if not buy one it cost around 14.00, I went to office depo<bad spelling>for all of my stuff except for the starter kit, you can return stuff there to which is sweet.

Setup 1.]
the cable guy will come & set up you dsl/cable, you will now have a cable modem, one wire is in the back of your computer, & the other one should go to the the router port that says WAN or WAC. Then you take one of the ethernet cables put it into the router, & the other goes into your xbox. The other ethernet cable can be for a friend. Then plug the router adapter into a plug-in. A d-link router will allow you to use your xbox & computer at the same time which is mentioned above its about 50.00

Setup 2.]
If you do not want to use your computer which I highly doubt you can go low tech & just plug the moden ethernet cord straight into your xbox. This setup is cheaper & doesn't require a router, however if you want to use your computer again your gonna have to pull the plug outta your xbox & put it back into your computer.

This all adds up to about 150 dollars, not including your cable/DSL internet bill which can range from 30 to 50.00 a month.

If you have any more questions just send a message my way :P

If you could, please repost this to the Flood. I can't move the topic for you, but it's not Halo 2 related enough to belong on New Mombasa.
