Magnums, please.

So the day after we learn of the April 14th betrayal, my 360 says an update is required. Fine, it seems to download something then says an update is required again -seems to download something again and then we get the " disc is dirty " try cleaning or contact support blah blah blah. This is my 3rd disk and basically brand new- not the disk.

Disconnect network cable -game will load- All the map packs GONE, all the profiles GONE. Now I'm pissed, even if I never play "Live" again, where did my paid for maps go?

Of course I searched and cleared the cache, tried other disks, etc..Called support and 1/2 hour later they say it must be a dirty/damaged disk ( the disk is spotless but I ordered a 4th one anyway)

Can't play any type of matchmaking - none of the maps will load -it just keeps saying waiting for everyone to load the map...

Microsoft should NOT have been able to make changes to my 360 so I can't even play a game I've paid for 4X. The downloaded maps are gone - why? Who said they could do that?

What is Microsoft going to take away next?
Think you own that game, console, software? Think again.
They should be sued.

I forgot to mention that I can play campaign (o goodie)

And I got the thank you email

What does this change mean for you?
It does not affect your ability to play original Xbox v1 games offline, but does remove LIVE connectivity and support for online multiplayer, leader boards, and other online features of these games.

** Got another new disk - still won't work on the 360

I had to dig out the dusty original xbox and hook it up

Guess what - of course it works no problem anywhere--

Why is my 360 still unable to play Halo 2?

The universe is probably littered with the one-planet graves of cultures which made the sensible economic decision that there's no good reason to go into space--each discovered, studied, and remembered by the ones who made the irrational decision.

I am able to play with no problems...

halo 2 still the best game in the series. long live halo 2.

Dam, I miss the old days playing halo 2 with my old brothers in arms. Thank you my old friends for giving me this account, I shall continue our legacy.

Clear your cache, then try to update again. Make sure your firewall allows 360 updates, one of my friends school's firewall prevented him from downloading any updates to his 360 at his school.

That's a good point on the firewall thing, it does happen. Even a router or modem can have a firewall, of sorts. Try plugging the CAT6 cable directly into the modem as a last resort thing but first.....

Try this:

Go to mem and make sure that if any map packs are there you get rid of them. I think you said they were mysteriously gone but double check.

Right after map pack deletion, clear the cache.

Turn off the box.

Unplug the cable, wait a minute and plug back in.

Reboot and get updates.

Live happily ever after.

Since the box is a computer, reboot is in order and it can make a difference.
