Hello, This is TNT VADER.

You all remember the UNSC In Amber Clad, and the 'oh so popular' UNSC Forward Unto Dawn, Right?

Of course you do ... OK ,Moving on to the meat of the cheeseburger.

Over the past few days in my extra time I have been working on creating a Blender model of a UNSC Frigate. (Google Blender, if you don't know what that is.) Because after looking for a while on the internet for a good 3D model of the Frigate for Blender, my search came up empty handed, and caused me to have a large hunger for cheeseburgers. (But that's besides the point.)

So I began to create my own 3D model in the blender program itself. And I just thought I'd share what I've done with fellow Halo (And Food) lover's everywhere.

Here are some pictures of how I have faired so far. Keep in mind I have only started and they aren't nearly complete. I still need to finish the said model, fine tune the details, texture it, Etc.

So, Enjoy. Don't let the door hit you on your way out...

"Find The Bomb?!
Find The Bomb?!
I'm Looking For The Flag!
What The Heck Is Assualt!?"

It looks fine, though not really detailed at the moment.

Indeed, That's on my list of things to work on. Detail's is a top need. Which is the next part of the project after fine tuning the base model.

Textures, will con into play soon. I grabbed a friend to create custom panels for the ships out metal hull. I have to say, they are looking very nice.

Thanks Buggy!

Not resembling any current frigate, but a it looks good as a new concept, slightly longer , maybe capable of holding a larger payload.
I wish you luck, keep it up :)

yeah its not the same as the other frigates but its a good start, its slightly longer and stretched out but dont worry about that not every ship has to be a carbon copy of the other does it! Just go slow on the details and take your time to get the best results, good luck. If you need any help with ideas for details let me know, here was my unfinished attempt at a frigate (PS Ignore the 'fins' they are not cannon):

Wow, Thanks guys.

Yeah, It does seem slighty longer now that I look at it. But hopefully that should be fixed by the time it's all tuned.

And Liam887live, Thanks a ton for your Images I'm sure they become useful as time goes on. I'll be sure to shoot some questions your way if they come up.

Sadly I'm working with a open source program, which is free to everyone, so the tools I'm stuck with may not be as great as 3dsmax or Maya. But It's still going to get finished.

Once again, Thanks!

UPDATE:

Hey,I'm back with another update and a picture.

Update.

What I've done is:

- Tuned the base model to get ready to add the details that will make it look more like an UNSC Frigate. (Metal plates, Turrets, etc.) but all of this may be changed in the future.

- I've put a 'rough' texture on the base model to give it some more detail, once again this will most likely change. I've snagged a friend into creating a nice Metal Hull texture for me.

- I've also added a planet into the scene...Just because...It has yet to be textured, so as of now it's simply grey.

Anyways, Enjoy! Keep hitting me with ideas!
(Not really hitting me of course, that would hurt...)

Could you post a closer up picture of a non-textured version of it? I'd like to see the geometry so that i could give you some suggestions

Thinking with Portals since '07

Battlefield 3 sucks.

quite cool, but lacking some detail.
i would like to see more detail!

Sorry for not posting updates for a while. I've been busy with other matters. Sadly, that also means that I haven't made much headway the past few days on the model as well. I've picked up the pace to get the model where it should have been a few days ago.

Ask and you shall receive Darek_ ,
Here are those Photo's you asked for. Tell me if you need anything extra. I'm excited to hear what you have to say.

can you post some clay-renders with overlayed wires, might make it easier to help that way!

Very nice, looks very clean. Heres a tip, you have a huge flat surface to work with on the top of the side things on your frigate. Use that toward your advantage, add a few specialized weapons (like larger turrets) or larger hangars, or just make scale the sides in to match it with the awesome lookin engines.
Overall its very sleek looking, just needs alot more work on detail. Keep up the good work :D

UPDATE:

Photo

Hey, I'm Back.
In this update I've begun the long process of adding detail to the model, and also I've began working on the planet in the backround. (Yes, right now it's only sand...)

Darek_ Thanks for the advice, I took your suggestion and put those flat surfaces on the 'side things'. Thanks a ton, It's helped a lot. Also I've began crafting the turrets, sadly they aren't finished yet. (You'd be able to see them if i move the camera, I'd creating them off to the side.) and as you can see I've added rough hangers.

And Liam887live, I'll see what I can about those photos, I'm not sure if Blender has that option.

More updates soon to come!

yeah its just to see the model itself maybe do a grey render like you where but with a lime green background so it stands out that way its easier to see and therefore easier to give help and advice! The last render looks good anyway I see you've done the hangers, curious tho are they geometry or just textures?
