While Halo 3: ODST was being advertised Bungie had stated that the only way to get the Mythic Map Pack Part 2 and the Halo Reach Beta was through Halo 3: ODST.

5 months later, Bungie releases the Mythic Map Pack Part 2 on the marketplace and now it seems as though Microsoft is randomly releasing Halo Reach Beta codes through E-Mails.

It seems to me that Bungie has downright lied to all of us into buying their overpriced game.

Does anybody else feel as betrayed as I do?

EXTREME PREJUDICE

Microsoft is the one to blame. Remember, they make all of the decisions.

Bungie is kind of just caught in the middle of it all.

~~Amen~~

I would say so so many things right now about this because of Micr$oft & the way Bungie$ games are marketed is complete bull ... i do have even more to say but all of that would get me permabanned for sure because marketing from bungie is complete crap all the time although you could say this about every game publisher bungie lied alot through odst!

In my opinion, the 5 hour campaign and repetitive firefight mode were not worth $60.

But that's not the point. The point is that Bungie went against their word and Lied to Tens of Thousands of people in order to sell their game.

  • 03.04.2010 6:57 PM PDT

At the time ODST came out they probably weren't allowed to say anything for fear of hurting ODST's sales. But you are sort of correct, I refuse to believe that they had no idea that the maps would ever make their way to the Marketplace. It didn't exactly take a genius to figure out that it was a strong possibility. They were sort of misleading as they repeatedly said that the Mythic Map Pack Part 2 would never be on the Marketplace.

Bungie is not at fault.

Halo belongs to Microsoft, not Bungie.

If you want to complain, go to Xbox.com

Bungie is the only one that clearly stated that the only way to get the Beta and Maps was through ODST.

Micro$oft never stated that.

halo is not tactical or very team oriented. its not like "Dieter, frag and clear on zulu. Loiselle and Price, yoo fall in on my lead. Go! *boom, door breaks and some gunshots heard.* Tango Down! Gold Element, secure hostage. Blue Element, regroup at objective rally point." its usually more like, "yo i gots rockets, ima go camp in the sword room" which you dont even have to say. my point is that you dont need to communicate in halo

Bungie did the exact same thing with Halo Wars and the first part of the mythic map pack. They said they ''had no plans'' of releasing it any other way, but as we all know they are on the MP right now.

The next gimmick game bungie makes will not get my $60, however I will buy Reach if the beta isn't too noobified (jetpacks? LOL)

  • 03.04.2010 7:06 PM PDT

So did random people get beta codes and 3 months? I didnt get a email, however I own ODST so it doesnt matter. What did you have to do to get it?

  • 03.04.2010 7:06 PM PDT

Apparently you had to have recently played Halo 2 online, even though I have and received nothing. :/

Where's the love, Micro$oft?

Oh right, it's in the money.

Bungie is Microsoft's channel to the masses. They say, Bungie does. Not their fault.

You do know Halo Wars wasn't developed by Bungie, right? Once again, it was under Microsoft's control.

No. Why should they be held responsible for things they have no control of in the first place? If MS commands them to tell the community something, then they have to do it. If MS later decides to change their minds and put money first, which by now is no surprise, then Bungie again has no choice but to relay their decisions to us.

Don't shoot the messenger.

So Bungie shouldn't be held responsible for their actions because Micro$oft told them to do it?

  • 03.04.2010 7:44 PM PDT

You can never succeed if you never try.

Yeah, a little bit. I mean, i spent $60 on ODST "Thinking" that i would get something unique and limited like the Multiplayer maps and the reach beta, but i guess not.

The reach beta was the main reason i held onto the campaign disc. I could have easily sold it, but figured i would be rewarded for not doing it later, but it looks like everyone is going to get the benefit.

  • 03.04.2010 7:45 PM PDT

I agree with you. I just bought odst for the game itself. I thought that everything else was bonus. ODST was $80 for me lol. but I don't complain because I really like the game.

  • 03.04.2010 7:53 PM PDT

i hope this isnt true and that they confirm that its not in the update pray to god that its not true

  • 03.04.2010 8:56 PM PDT

"Life sucks, because only Buddhists get a respawn!"

I got the email, 3 free months of xbox live and 400 ms points but still feel like I was blatantly lied to. If those gifts were supposed to make me feel better about it they only worked alittle. The Mythic map pac 2 going on the MP really struck a nerve when I saw it a few weeks ago.

  • 03.05.2010 1:32 AM PDT

Thinking with Portals since '07

Battlefield 3 sucks.

no, ODST is a good game

  • 03.05.2010 1:44 AM PDT

I am not a "fanboy", "guy", "bro", "dude", or anything of the sort. I do not currently own a set of testicles.

ALL OF YOU ARE IGNORANT.

Bungie DID NOT LIE.

They were told by MS that ODST would be the way to get the Beta. Bungie told everyone that. Then, M$ and their marketing crap decided to give people who played Halo 2 in the last few months a code to the Beta.

HOW THE -blam!- IS BUNGIE AT FAULT? They did NOT know. M$ does whatever they want, because they can. AND they own the rights to Halo.

Happened with the map packs. Happened with other stuff too. Bungie can't do ANYTHING with Halo except release and maintain their games.

  • 03.05.2010 3:03 AM PDT

No, Microsoft did!!!!!! Let's all go buy a PS3 naw!!
