If one of the Bungie Staff (Achronos, Frankie, SketchFactor, etc.) posts in a thread, a gold septagon will appear to the left of it. Their text is also defaulted as golden, so you can find their posts easier.

Moderators post in white, but if they reply to a thread, no specific icon will appear next to that thread.

Why do the mods not get a symbol.

Honestly, if they had symbols next to the threads they posted in, it'd be a mess. Mods post in a lot of threads a day. Some of them are threads in which rules are broken which usually ends up being locked which means that the "locked" symbol would replace the "moderator" symbol, but there are also a lot of threads that the mods respond to that aren't locked. At that point, the "moderator" symbol would be scattered all over the forums. It wouldn't look very organized, in my opinion.

Maybe they could have differant symbol's for differant actions like a big hammer symbol if they've blacklisted someone. I usally think that if a mod has posted in a thread without banning someone then it might be worth a read.

Heh... That'd be cool.

Perhaps it could be made an option, and a user could choose whether or not to see the moderator icons. Or perhaps it would be viewable only by moderators for the reasons Recon stated above.

The moderators aren't really that cool if you think about it.

Honestly, if they had symbols next to the threads they posted in, it'd be a mess. Think about how often mods crack down on rule-breakers and usually post in their threads. Of course, a locked thread would cancel the symbol out, but not all threads the mods post in are locked afterward.

I agree, the locked symbol and the Golden Septagon could and should over-rule a mod posted symbol. But it would be nice (but could be cluttered, that would be a potential show-stopper) to see at a glance which threads had been visited by a moderator. It would make it easier for any mod to see what threads have been reviewed and which ones have not.

Or even have the special icon visible to mods only and have it overwrite the Golden Septagon for them (even a combined mod/employee icon could be implemented). It shouldn't be too difficult and could help keep the place organised.

Although, moderators, if drunk or under some similar influence, might review a thread and then forget all about it whilst a flame war rages uncontrolled.

Burn :P

But some new moderator symbols would be cool. I like the idea of that banhammer one :) However, I think Tazmaniandude is right about the mess. I suggest perhaps having a small marathon symbol by the subject title or somewhere like that.
