Subject: I need help - Wide-screen when it shouldn't be

“Oh, it’s a little bit of everything, it’s the mountains, it’s the fog, it’s the news at six o’clock, it’s the death of my first dog, it’s the angels up above me, it’s the song that they don’t sing, It’s a little bit of everything.”

Okay, so I picked up Halo 2 like a month ago to help send it off with a bang. Anyway, I haven't been able to play it till today, and just downloaded all the maps.

Here's my problem:
My game is in wide-screen when it shouldn't be, I game on a 17" monitor. How do I change this, I couldn't find it in any of the game settings?

I expect you are playing on a 360. This happened to me the other day on Halo 2. I unplugged the scart and put it back in, then it was fine.

Change it on the 360. Tab over to settings/memory/display and change from widescreen to normal.

The settings are correct for every other game I play, and the dashboard is not in wide screen. It is just Halo 2.

Maybe it's a problem with the output on your TV. Just go in tou your TV settings and change the TV output so it fits your TV.

It's a monitor, I can't do that. Besides, it works for everything else...

change the resolution in 360 dashboard, some resolutions are widescreen only, if that does not work change resolution on monitor.

My monitor does not allow the resolution to be changed, and if it would, I doubt Halo 2 would respond by switching... My current resolution in the dashboard is NOT wide-screen.

It's practically impossible to play Halo 2 now, if I try to drive a warthog, I crash into everything...

Yes, changing the resolution of monitor can affect the widescreen to 4:3 ratio. I know because I have several monitors that I play Halo on. Your monitor must be ancient if you cannot change the resolution. You should be able to change the resolution and change between widescreen and 4:3 ratio on the monitor and the 360. Is the monitor 17 in square or a 17 in widescreen? If it is widescreen change settings of monitor to 4:3 ratio. If it is a square monitor change the setting in 360 dashboard.
