Subject: Just finished playing through ODST again.

Well I have just came back from playing ODST infact the credits are still rolling.

I have to say this game is quite fun. Why did everyone get dissapointed. I mean it wasn't going to perfect for a one year project...... but come on it was great.

Ok I am back again just watched the Epilogue and saw the Easter Egg with Buck and the Monkey Man. Never gets old.

So yeah, Why did everyone hate this game so much?

The people who say that it's an Epic Fail aren't considering the fact that most of the Bungie team was working in Reach and the few who were working on it only had a year to make it. So when you realize how many people made it, and in the time they did, it's even better than Halo 3.

Yes but you must also take into account that the game engine for Halo 3 ODST was already made, so they didn't really need as many people to work on it as in a full new game. But all things considered, it was a pretty good game.

I play for keeps.

I just think people expect too much these days. No one takes games for what they are anymore. But really, I feel like those that are satisfied with a game rarely voice their opinions while the ones that like to complain are all over forums like these running their mouths...

i agree with you on that. most of the people that like it dont really voice thier opinion to much. i liked the campaighn im playin through it right now with everything but blind and iron on. if you take the time to take out the enemys its a nicely put to together game especialy considering that its only a side quest to the original story.

For me it comes done to re playability. The game was good but I really do not have any desire to play through it again. I have gotten all but one achievement, endure. And coupled with that it was a shorter game it didn't seem as fulfilling as other halo games, especially since it was still priced the same.

  • 03.08.2010 10:20 AM PDT

I played through it a lot, my main qualm is that it was a bit too easy, and a breeze on Legendary with other people.

I loved the story, and generally loved the game. It felt far more like an add on; not as memorable as a properly 'new' Halo game.

All your base are belong to us.

I don't get the hate, it's a person's opinion. But I will say that when someone actually takes the time to make even a short game fun (and very little broken), and add in memorable characters, well I enjoy that more than a super flashy game with no substance.

I like to play firefight but without MM it's kinda tough to find people who also like to play it semi-regularly. So if you are looking for someone to play with send me a FR. I have all the vidmaster achievements but don't have a problem in helping out...especially if you are doing endure. SC

no...and just no

Who cares how many people worked on a game and for how long. If only one person had worked on big rigs for just a day would that make it a good game (worst game ever on gamerankings)? No it would still be a bad game. If ODST wasn't ready and up to the standards that bungie expected for the game then they wouldn't have put the product out there. This was the product that they wanted. I enjoy the game for what it is. I would be nice if ff has mm but it's still a good game for me. You might be reading this and wondering what the point of this post is, well it's to point out how dumb it is to say that this game is good because there wernt many people working on it and it was done in a year. STOP with that argument and give some reasons that have merit instead.

i thought the game had a great story and it was nice of bungie to include all the halo 3 maps plus 3 new maps also firefight is such a great way to have fun pwning grunts with friends . all in all i think halo 3 ODST is epic

Zombie? What are you!? Racist? Its called "living impaired" you idiot!

ODST was a nice little game put together in a year. People are mad just because a small group of people can't live up to the expectations of a bunch of people that play Call of Dooky 4 to much. Simple as that.

halo 2 still the best game in the series. long live halo 2.

Dam, I miss the old days playing halo 2 with my old brothers in arms. Thank you my old friends for giving me this account, I shall continue our legacy.

I just find that ODST is too easy of a game to play. Legendary alone took me about less then 6hrs to beat. It could have been more challenging.

Except for the fact that your argument is flawed as well. When you take your argument, by that logic, there are certain defined standards for a good game. Yet you are also saying that a game made by one guy cannot be good. I just think you're misunderstanding the argument you're trying to counter.

I don't think others are trying to say is that a small amount of people making a game in a small amount of time makes that game a good game. I think they're trying to say that when a small team at Bungie made ODST in a year, the product isn't just good, it's excellent. In this specific case, not generally. That's a matter of opinion, however. But when you consider the timeframe and team of ODST, if you already appreciate the game, you appreciate it that much more. Statistically, it is impressive that a small team with a small timeframe can create a final product that's comparable to Call of Duty 4 in sales. But you're right, this doesn't make a "good" game. I just don't think people are saying it does.

It was a fun little game for a good few weeks.
But the majority of my friends list stopped playing it after then.

It's still fun after all this time to get 3 buddies together for some Firefight carnage, though.

  • 03.08.2010 8:59 PM PDT

Until last week I would have said ODST was a complete waste of my money. After I scratched my Modern Warfare 2 disc (leaving it unplayable at the moment), I dug up ODST again and I'm still playing through it and now really enjoying it.

The major qualm I had with it at release was the campaign length, and I know FOR SURE that Bungie released a statement saying that "this game started as just an expansion, but it has now grown to much more than that" along with a comment saying that the campaign length had been extended to over 10 hours. On my first playthrough in September I finished it in under five hours on normal difficulty!

I have to say my opinion has been reversed completely. ODST is definitely a great game (but it still would have been nice to have a few more flashback missions).

People expected more than they got. I thought it was a great game. I still host Firefight parties with my friends and we LAN our Xboxs for some massive Firefight onslaughts. And the Campaign is pretty fun to mess around in as well. it is way more fun than Halo 3's Campaign, in my opinion.

Another reason people hated it was because they felt they were ripped off because they didn't research about their product before they bought it. And they don't understand from a sales standpoint either.

Well I'm sure the meant if you were to go through every little thing. Even with the cheat-sheet map, finding all the audio logs takes a while to do. And then getting achievements as well.

I'm 23, I have a house, dog, girlfriend, job and I have no interest in any fanboyism so if you're thinking about sending me a childish PM, don't be surprised when I don't call back.

Campaign lag, that's why I hate it. The fact that I can't play it with my friends and enjoy it.

considering how Bungie studios was divided between there unnamed project, halo reach and ODST, during production i think it was a HUGE success, the game is insanely fun and provided a unique experience and firefight was a something new and revamped from other game ideas, and was implemented perfectly fine. ODST brought a bunch to the halo world with exploration and survival/arena combat that was innovative and great. Considering all things it was a success.

  • 03.09.2010 2:02 AM PDT

I enjoyed the game myself a little short but in that short period I had a ton of fun and the new Firefight was a clever idea even though it has been done before ODST. If people want to complain let them. I say stop complaining and don't play it. You only need to get up and swap discs in your 360 not keep playing it.
