Not exactly what I was expecting in this week's update, but then again everything in this update was exactly what you told us we'd get, so no complaints.
The humor is fantastic, reminding me of your time with OXM, which seems rather dry since you and Mike Salmon left it. A playable MP Halo 2 demo from them would go a long way toward renewing my subscription next year, if you'd like to pass that along to them. ;^)
Being in Europe for most of the week, how could we expect you to know about the ilovebees brouhaha (unless you're behind it) and any new and incredible information on Halo 2's progress at Bungie Studios? A few more hints about the game itself would have been appreciated--but wait! They're there if we but look for them!
Example #1: "...the Marine voice work is awesome. Not so much what they say (some of it is incredibly funny though) but more the way they react properly to circumstance. Even staring at a character for a long period of time will illicit different responses, depending on the circumstances...Britain is now completely unconcerned with bad language, as I discovered watching BBC TV in the hotel that night. Just as well, since every other word out of our game seemed to be bastard., -blam!- or bull-blam!-."
--A more "M" rated game than Halo was, will Halo 2 be, it seems.
Example 2: "Just as I was explaining that you could continue to blast corpses after they’d fallen, but that they wouldn’t move..." --Does this mean no more blowing bodies sky high after you've beaten the life out of them? "...an animation bug kicked in and caused the poor cadaver to twitch horribly, whether I blasted him or not." --Perhaps not...but then again..."It (the bug) has been fixed." --Damn. I hope that doesn't mean what it seems it might mean.
Example #1, part #2: "...they let us squeak by with a UK 16 rating, thanks to blood, swearing and violence." --We knew there'd be blood. We knew there'd be violence (we'd get violent if there weren't). But swearing? Halo is essentially PG at best. Halo 2 may be R-rated, language-wise, and rightfully so.
Would you say "hell" or "damn" while fighting for your life against an alien invasion? Not very -blam!- likely.
Keep the updates coming, Frankie. Some of us do appreciate them.
