Can't be too careful with your company. I can feel the devil walking next to me.

I just had a little playthough of the Campaign. I was overall impressed, but I have a few little nit-picky things. Firstly, I feel detached from the Rookie. We don't really have anything from him, and it's hard for a player to step in his shoes.

Next up, if this was the concept to get the feel of an ODST, why doesn't the weapon lower automatically after x amount of time without fighting. It would have been a simple little addition, that could have added to the feel.

The nighttime music is great. So, why does it only play after every 15 minutes or so? I would just wander around for a while in quiet, hearing only the slapping of my feet hitting the moist ground.

The environment seems huge, but I can only wander a little bit of it. The streets seem crowded, and barely walkable. I wonder how the people of New Mombasa got around before the attack...

Here's my final point: For being a city, there sure are a LOT of locked doors. I want to explore those companies. I want to find out about HiNOS and Traxus and whatever the e company was. There were maybe 5 or 6 buildings that you could go into and look around, but yet there were hundreds of buildings that we could walk by. Was it an engine problem or what?

I'm trying to get a bit broader of an idea and your thoughts on the game. So, what were some of the little things in ODST that bugged you?

All your base are belong to us.

I never really thought about the things that could bug me, but I will say that on the exploring building bit, it might be tricky to add "dead" areas just for the fun of it (specifically disk space). If someone with more computer experience is out there, feel free to chime in and correct me.

A much bigger New Mombasa would have been fun to explore.

The size of the nighttime map is fine, but I'm so used to free roaming RPGs like Fallout 3, Oblivion, that I just prefer one big huge map to wander around on.

The silenced weapons were a nice touch, but I wouldn't have minded to have the option of removing the silencers, since I like the sound of the Halo 2 Magnum when it's going loud.

The rest of the game was ship-shape, for me anyways.

The sense or feel of a world to explore. This game in my opinion did a better job in hiding how linear it was compared to Halo 3, but still... exploring some tall buildings and overlooking the city from rooftops would have been a nice addition. Probably the developers didn't want to push their luck too much with the exploring stuff and left it for Reach.

That said, I hope that Reach brings back the whole non-linear epicness feel that Halo CE had (and that's why despite all the graphical improvements, I think it towers above the others).

Zombie? What are you!? Racist? Its called "living impaired" you idiot!

Yeah, just wait for Reach. You may get your chance to scale mountains and everything. Hopefully there will be a free roam mode.

Everything wrong with this game is because of it being an expansion, falsely marketed as a full game.

Too late now, I guess.

It was kinda frustrating being unable to go into almost every building I passed, and it made what was supposed to be a nonlinear nighttime expanse quite claustrophobic. I would have loved to be able to sneak about on the rooftops where those jackal snipers perch and snipe some unsuspecting brutes of my own.

I can totally see where you're coming from here, but I put it down to the short turnaround time of the game. I reckon having a faceless mute was probably the most efficient way getting a decent playable character.

The environment seems huge, but I can only wander a little bit of it. The streets seem crowded, and barely walkable. I wonder how the people of New Mombasa got around before the attack... Yeah, I agree. A few open spaces or parks would have been nice, as would a little more variety between hub sections

Again, I'm going with lack of time to get all the detail in. Building interiors take up a lot of disc space as well, so the engine might not have been up to it.

Would just like to point out that disc space was a non issue for ODST. It only takes up about 3.5GB of the DVD, which can hold up to about 8.5GB.

The disc can handle it, but can the engine? It could barely do rain.

Also, some could be due to limited time, and limited art resources.

Another thing while playing Firefight. It seems as soon as you hit Set 5 or 6 it gets to be drones every 2nd, 3rd, and 4th waves.

I wasn't talking about whether or not the engine can handle it, or if limited time got in the way, I was simply stating that "not enough disc space" is an invalid argument.
