Please don't flame me for putting this in the wrong forum, because I really don't know what forum it would actually belong in.

Anyway, having not read the books (which probably answer my question), I don't know what people are talking about when they say the Covenant should 'glass Earth'.

Can someone please tell me what 'glassing' a planet means?

I should probably just buy the books...

its when covenant ships fire their plasma weapons at a planet until its atmosphere is burned and there is nothing left, the wavering heat makes it look glassy

Ugh they call it glassing because the plasma weapons are SOOOO hot (science lesson here) that when they hit the rocks, soil ect ect they actually turn it into glass....

(In case you didnt know, glass is made by heating sand until it gets REALLLLLLLLYYYY hot and binds together)

Yah, read the books, they're good. Glassing is when the covie shower a planet with plasma and afterward the surface is smooth and shiny (like glass), because everything havs been melted and destroyed.

It's kinda funny when the first guy answers the question correctly, then everyone else decides they need to post that same answer again.

Glassing a planet is when the Covenant Repeatedly nuke a planet till nothing is left, Then everything on the planet turns to a sort of glass state

in case you didnt know sand is made from rocks, and that earth is a complete shell of rocks. so the whole earth would become glass
