Well someone told me that my router the DI-604 just causes problems, so I tried plugging my ethernet cable directly into my modem, but it couldn't connect? I know my DNS addresses and my external IP address, how do I set this up? This is so simple and I'm just not getting it.

Bump

Edit: When I do reset my modem and computer the DHCP assigns an IP address and Subnet Mask that I do not believe my ISP gives.

Thanks

reset your modem?

The firmware should autodetect and assign IPs automatically on restart...

On the other hand, it may be a firewall issue....

(thanks for bumping and NOT double-posting)

the router is suposed to fix problems... not cause new ones. if you know how to set up the router, then everything should be fine. if you are simply trying to host halo on your computer, and can't because of the internal firewall on your router, don't worry, there are sites on the net that guide you through that sort of thing (http://www.portforward.com/ for instance)

Well I have followed portforward.com and did exactly as it said, and still it didn't work a long time ago. That's why I wanted to try directly connecting to my modem to see if my router was the problem.

Edit: I even tried using the DMZ for this internal IP and uninstalling Windows SP2 cause I heard it caused compatibility problems. I turned off the Internet Firewall in SP1, (I think is what is went to after I uninstalled SP2.)

Thanks.
