Well, before I rant on about halo 2, I`d like to say im very sorry for upcoming loss of Halo 2's xbox live feature, I never got to play on live, but despite that, I still had the campaign of halo 2, so anyway.

What is your thought of Halo 2's campaign? Personally, I currently have found no other game, (except for halo 1) to have brought such an awe to me in the gameplay.

An example would be when your standing on cairo station in the vacuum of space, listening to the nearly indescribeable music that plays as venture around the station, fighting off Elite Rangers. After slaying the elites, while listening to the music, I can't help but gaze at earth, as countless ships depart from it to fight the covenant.

Another one is the beginning of Sacred Icon, listening to harsh wind blowing as you gaze down at the landscape of delta halo, then looking at the large, space city of high charity in the sky.
Along with that along is the odd, humming sound, that plays as you go into sentinel wall, I find this odd hum, to be really cool ambience, that really enhanced a otherwise short, but incredible level. (gotta love the grunt and jackal allies)

Well I could go on, but enough of that, what are your thoughts?

I was just going through SI the other day and decided to ride a Sentinel down and launch up to the Green door. Fun stuff still.

I have an original box and a 360 but I play H2 on the original so I can still swordfly in levels that have vehicles. In levels absent of vehicles I can still do a sword/weapon switch to lunge long distance. Still a kick.

Once in a while I go to GJ and swordfly up to the 'space hole' or launch up to REX.

I still have special saves for the Scarab gun on OS and Metropolis.

Sputnik FTW!

Halo 2 is what really introduced me to Halo in general and it'll always be my favorite because of that.

halo 2 still the best game in the series. long live halo 2.

Dam, I miss the old days playing halo 2 with my old brothers in arms. Thank you my old friends for giving me this account, I shall continue our legacy.

One thing I still haven't done on halo 2 is successfully beat halo 2 legendary on co op. I thought solo on legendary was hard, but doing it on co op is harder. I still wish halo 2 had online campaign co op :(.

I still say halo 2 campaign was much more deep and had a more detailed storyline out of all the halo games present.

Lol grumpy, having special saves for scarab gun. It's more fun redoing that campaign mission and getting the scarab gun again while playing through that mission.

The one in OS is a grueling setup, especially this one.

I wouldn't want to go through that each time.

Pioneer and Enthusiast for Halo 3.

Halo 2 too me, brings back plenty of memories. The campaign is definitely remembered and will stay that way for as long until the day I die. The game also had fun split screen, but never got to play XBL On the xbox v1. Oh well, still had tons of fun playing split screen.

I was also in awe with the game. I still am. I play it just about every day, online and I repeat the campaign regularly just for fun.

But, Halo: Combat Evolved, was really amazing.

Why does everyone hate Halo 2? Maybe its because its the worst game ever next to mario.

I still believe that Halo 2 has the most difficult Legendary setting out of the series. Legendary on Halo 2 is pretty brutal by yourself.

And co-op was even hard as -blam!- too. If your buddy dies, respawn back to the last checkpoint!

"I am the Walrus." (:3=)

I'm just really going to miss Halo 2, it was the first game I ever played on LIVE, I think I'm just going to get it for PC. But it won't be same, I used to love glitching with my friends on Halo 2 for hours at a time. I have so many memories from the game, it's a shame that they're taking LIVE away from it

The only bad thing about halo 2 vista is the lack of a co-op campaign. Otherwise its almost the same as the xbox version. It will be missed.

Halo 2 is insanely hard on Legendary, almost to the point where it isn't even fun to play.

Those goddamn Jackal snipers are so frustrating.

Yeah, especially if you toss in a couple of the nasty skulls.

The challenge for H2 Campaign that will never be completed; Beat H2 SLASO and film it. A monumental task.

I once played the level, metropolis, with the mythic skull on..... it is no fun, trying to blast a banshee out of the sky that is piloted by an ultra elite.

Anyway, back on topic, the jackal snipers are pretty bad when there are several in a area, but the worst instances are when you have to deal the ones that spawn/respawn in a area.

Still, as frustrating as it is when dealing with the jackal snipers on legendary, it does remind me of Halo 1, where I would snipe countless covenant, and all the elites could do, was glare and strafe while thinned out their ranks one by one.

Well, besides the jackal snipers being well used in the campaign, why were there no elite snipers? Their was one spec ops elite ally that used a sniper rifle effeciently in the arbiter level, besides the IWHBYD random Ultra armed with a sniper rifle, no enemy elites in halo 2 ever used sniper rifles, why is that so?

Halo 2 had the best FPS campaign of all time. No other game, in my mind, has come close to beating Halo 2 in that capacity.

I play legendary campaign only, CE and H2, I have to admit that I do not play much H2 anymore, for several reasons. There are some aspects of H2 that are just fantastic, but overall I just enjoy the gameplay of CE much more.

H2 plus side----dialogue is a lot more amusing, more enemies in vehicles can be a lot of fun, some wonderful out of the map exploring possibilities, skulls

H2 down side--cannot do nearly as much walking combat (there are too many times where if you are not in a vehicle you cannot complete certain ground battles whereas in CE you can pretty much walk the 90% game and fight your enemies effectively), the overall feel of the game is more mid range and long range (CE has a much more in your face feel to it!) and my biggest pet peeve (pasted from a much earlier post of mine):

I find that I play H2 very differently than CE when it comes to my weapons mix. Allow me to explain:

With CE I find I can mix my weapons very freely and still enjoy playing the game. I can approach things from many different directions, like only using a PP and never the second weapon, or melee and pistol only.......the combinations are exceptionally wide in arrangement.

With H2, if I don't use the proper balancing combo the levels on Legendary are just a pain in the arse to play. I do not enjoy using the SMG, Plasma Rifle and Magnum in H2, they just seem to be useless weapons for the way I like to play. The PP has been watered down to a great extent (in CE you can take out ANYTHING, short, medium or long distance if you use it right), and in H2 is pretty much just for taking out Elites with the Noob Combo (which on Legendary is essential to be able to do).

I like to take as many different approaches as I can, since I play only CE and H2, and campaign only. I have found that CE allows me so many different ways to play the game that I spend 75% of my time there trying to create new options on how to get things done. I love puzzles, and after solving the original H2 puzzle, there are just not enough options on how to play it as there are CE.

Having said all of that, the weapons mix in CE is dependent on whatever game type I am currently going for, and for H2 is dependent on whatever level or skull I am after.

Sorry for dissing H2, but I just get more enjoyment out of CE solo campaign!

Nah, your oppinion is your oppinion, womyfts, and I don't find your post offensive at all.

I will agree that Halo CE was a bit better when it came to weapon balancing, (it is hard to use some of the weapons in Halo 2's higher difficulties)but, what I find lacking in Halo CE, is the lack of story.

Basically, the story of Halo CE, is all of humanity is being wiped out by a alliance of "religious" aliens, and its up to you, a lone warrior with a band of humans to fight them off on a ancient, mysterious alien relic.

Don't get me wrong, I love the gameplay of Halo CE, but in my oppinion, Halo 2 has so much more in its story,an example, is the motivation on why the Covenant does what it does, and dialogue of the Elites further shows that they are not really blood thirsty monsters, but religious zealots blindly following their faith in their Covenant, along with other things in the story of Halo 2.

Of course, im not going to say that Halo 2 itself is perfect, compared to Halo CE, Halo 2 did a lot of controversial things, like too much vehicular gameplay, and a lack of good weapon balance, ect. but for all of Halo 2's flaws, I find a lot of positives, that makes me come back, and enjoy Halo 2's campaign all the more.

ashanti clan

jumping on the buildings on outskirts, getting the sword REX, finding hidden sniper rifles, getting both skulls, skipping half the level in 1 minute, getting invincible warthogs

ahh that was the best

Halo 2 has the best campaign of any halo game IMO, for one reason.

Sputnik.

I bet, after almost 6 years of this game being out, that there are STILL easter eggs and stuff we haven't found yet, because of that skull. The possibilities are amazing.

To me it's all one game, but I can totally feel womy. The multiplayerization started with 2. The sinking Banshee, linear paths...quick kills... These things culminated in 3, sending me looking over the saved film to figure out exactly why I even died at all. For me 2 is a mid-point in this process. Great additions without subtraction, same basic format, long levels, and no over-the-top nonsense like 3. Outskirts is the quintessential Halo level IMO.

Yeah, Outskirts is still fun, but for different reasons. When my grandson and I first got H2 we played coop after the first SP run. We got to OS and kept playing it over and over. Man, fighting in the streets, we kept talking army stuff and shouting out information (even though we were sitting next to each other). "Sniper on the ledge, 11 o'clock". "Roger that". "Watch for the invisible Elite from the roof". "Affermative". "You hold back and strafe while I charge, this is Heroic". "Omg, grenade"!

Heh, really stupid stuff that I would not trade for the world.

I totally know what you mean, Grump. Stepson and I do Gears' Horde and ODST Firefight, and it totally removes any sense of age or status. Is just two guys with a common goal. And then the kid is like, 'Hey, the old man is pretty good at this stuff...' We communicate and interact in a way that we really don't otherwise. And laugh a ton. Is just fun and a really different thing. Just great times we hope they'll kind of remember.
