Computer specs:
P4 2.2ghz
512mb RAM
Nvidia Geforce 6600 256mb

I used the command line "-use20". I have all the detail set to high, and The Optical Camoflauge effect isn't showing. I'm getting a transparant sprite effect that looks kinda blan. Even when I get the Optical camo for the masterchief, or in multiplayer, there is no cool image bending pixel shaders going.

I know my geforce 6600 supports pixel shader 3.0, so why isn't the game displaying the cool effects. Please help.

Radeon cards can display it, but any nVidia card can't.

yea every nVidia card is like that....instead it shows a ghostly figure for camo....I don't think you can fix that at all...other then getting an ATi card.

i think there's a fix for it, but it doesn't display the in-game chat text afterwards.

I see camo alright, I have a crap 5500 pci though. Its a bug with the high end Nvidia cards and the fix makes it so you cant see the ingame chat. Its a no win situation aint it.

i think this problem automatically makes ATi the superior card brand.

Gearbox made Halo PC; MacSoft Halo Mac.

Why do most people immediately criticise Bungie for any problems with the game?

well, bungie pretty much invented halo, so that's who they go to first. Also, Gearbox is more focused on their other games, and only have a forum for halo ce, not halo pc.

Technically, Westlake Interactive made Halo Mac, MacSoft published it.

Anyhow, and I'm not sure why, but a change shortly before the game was released made it so that people with nvidia cards cannot see the active camo effect.

Not really, it just makes gearbox an inferior developer. Don't be a fanboy.

Listen fellas, this isn't about blaming anybody. I worship bungie on a nightly basis before I play Halo2. All I want to know is how I can fix it.

I DLed the .DLL file from farcry that was supposed to fix it, but that didn't do crap but make the game run at an annoyingly slow rate.

Does Bungie/gearbox have a REAL solution to this yet? Are they working on it?
