Subject: Halo 2 and Halo 3 Differences?

When Halo 2 was released someone at my local Bestbuy was stabbed...I ordered Halo 3 online...

Could anyone name the differences between the Halo 2 and Halo 3 multiplayer? I loved Halo 2 but don't like Halo 3 at all. I just don't understand why.

Is it the maps?

The new guns?

What did they change that so drastically changed how I feel about Halo 3?

Thanks.

Well, there are numerous differences between both games, but you're right. It is mainly the maps, and guns.

I mean, the graphics are 10x better in H3 and more complex.

Not to mention the guns, such as the AR, and other things, like the ability to hold two needlers in H2 and not H3.

Both games are completely different.

One of the major factors I've really noticed that differentiates the two games is the exciting level of fast-paced gameplay that was clearly visible in Halo 2 and appeared to be motioned relatively slower in Halo 3. In comparison, there are much too many modifications to sit here and nitpick at them without it being time consuming. Realistically, elements in gameplay are strictly opinionated by sheer preference and in a subject like this you could get handfuls of fairly diverse answers in regards to what things were excellently implemented in one game and not so well executed in the other. Nobody but yourself can sincerely tell you why you may have enjoyed one game and not the other.

I'll have to agree with this. I believe that in many ways the setlist of map environments in Halo 2 are surrounded by nostalgic bias just as much as a lot of other factors in the game are. Those who have never played the game and have only played Halo 3 would think differently about not only the environments but the elements in gameplay when setting their boots in the ground. Although all of the Halo titles share their place in the trilogy, I don't feel it's fair to compare any of them in the lightest degree.

one of the biggest diffrences is the way the hit system works when you shoot some one in halo 3 it uses volcity just like halo 1 when the sniper shots its moveing at a speed where if your a little off on a moveing target the bullet misses. lag affects this more espcaily the br where the leed needed is veried. in halo 2 the bullet moves at and hits the target as soon as the trigger is pulled this is called hit scan. with hit scan lags less of an issue for hitting people with lower grade connections but in some cases the host gains a big advantage. I preticulary like hit scan due to my conection not being very strong. also the physics in halo 3 are differnt to the point that jumping and moveing is differnt in halo 3 you are slower but jump higher. where as halo 2 you move faster and jump a bit shorter. halo 2 remakes of maps seam to be twice as big as they were in halo 2 probly to stop bottle necks in the tighter areas. halo 2 had worse graphics but better map layouts for fast paced killing. halo 3 seems to be way slower paced where it can littery go down to the wire in a slayer game and halo 2 it could be over in 5 minutes.

Halo 2 for Life!

I could list a million differences, but really it comes down to if i'm having fun or not, and for H3 i dont have fun playing, and H2 I do have fun playing (that is the main difference for me).

halo 2 still the best game in the series. long live halo 2.

Dam, I miss the old days playing halo 2 with my old brothers in arms. Thank you my old friends for giving me this account, I shall continue our legacy.

Halo 2: Had drivable spectre, good glitches like superbounces etc, balanced weapons, arbiter only storyline, rich/long storyline, good campaign replay value, ability to put weapon down when holding it, and the feel the graphics gave when you played it.

Halo 3: More guns, more vehicles, brighter graphics, far too short of a campaign, campaign was a bit cut and dry, new amour permutations for player, updated online gameplay, lack of superbounces/good glitches, and the introduction to the forge mode to customize maps.

One could write a book on the differences and the pros/cons of Halo 2 and Halo 3.

Thanks guys.

I guess for me personally its seems like a combination of the maps, the speed of the game and the players, and the new weapon physics (Whole hit scan/velocity thing)

It sucks that they're taking down Halo 2. I hope maybe one day they make a similar Halo, or they maybe re-release it. Both are unlikely, but one can dream!
