yeah, but its fun to drag conversations on to new posts. Ok, has anyone paid attention to the Bungie Cams? It is coming out August 24th, and here is why....NO ONE IS WORKING RIGHT NOW AT BUNGIE! Has anyone else paid attention to the Bungie Cams lately? If you are working your ass off to get something out the door by a certain deadline then lights would be on and people would be at work, and there would be lot more movement. I'm not saying they fired the employees, I'm just saying, the task is complete, back to 9 to 5. I know in my office when something has got to go out the door, we don't fark around. Halo 2 is done. Don't believe the delievery date on Frankie's updates. I really believe they are from 2 months ago...Seriously. Why would you wait (I'm being conservative on this observation) until now, to get an ERSB rating on a game in one of your largest markets (i.e. Europe)? Trust me on any project, the last 5% ALWAYS takes the longest time. I remember an update that dealt with the memory size of Halo 2 and it being to big so they had to downsize it. It is my strong belief, BEFORE you start making boxes for the Halo 2 title that you need to know if your game is going to be on 1 or 2 DVDs. THAT will make a HUGE difference in shipping and especially marketing. I mean, even I can be sold on a game because it comes on 2 DVDs. I mean come on, 2 DVD's makes a game sound extra cool. I can hear the advertisements now, "Get this new cool game, on its 2 disc set, plus another disc for extras". That extra WOW factor b/c the game is on 2 DVDs. But when it comes to packaging you need to know how big the burrito is before you put it in a wrapper.
Basically my point is, you know what the packaging is going to look like, b/c you see the Halo 2 set for sale online, and advertised as 1 DVD and one extra (for the Halo 2SE at least). You can't have the tail wag the dog and come back to the programmers and say "well you have to remove all the pertinent content b/c we only made the packages for 1 DVD instead of 2, we can't waste the millions of dollars in packaging we already spent..."
Back to the Halo 2 Secrets Cam. July 30th I'm good judger of human emotion (I believe I'm a little better then others, but I will admit I'm a terrible driver). When one of the Bungie Cams was showing that room filled with people, and there was a Professional Photographer there (at least his camera equipment looked pro) taking photos, there was one guy in particular sitting in a chair next to the guy camera guy smiling at the Bungie Cam. With that smile I read this: "I'm relaxed and having fun, the joke is on you". Suffice it to say the camera man was taking a picture of the bungie cam itself. Why? B/c they want to preserve the memory of that day and show it to us later on.
The making of the Halo 2 DVD (Halo 2 SE). Don't you think the Halo 2 team better have Halo 2 done BEFORE the making of the bonus DVD? Also (something I just thought of), the sound guys and stereo guys have to have large amounts of QA/QC done before packaging as well. They have to experiment with Halo 2 on MULTIPLE TV's and surround sound setups (btw, I hope they don't test with Bose Speakers, they are the most over-rated speaker ever). Then, they have to make sure it fits to the theme and plot of the gameplay.
Can anyone who reads this, that has worked on engineering projects, support me on this? It all seems to fantastical that Halo 2 STILL needs work, but will be shipped and ready with all the extras by November 9th. It is already CANNED (like tuna) and ready to ship.
