~ Life is Killing Me. ~
~ I hate, therefore I am. ~
2001?
I was... 24. (Holy Sh** !!!)
My friends and I were so hyped about the Xbox back then! We waited for it to come out, we were so dam* tired of the Playstation. Even though it was a risk (new console trying to grab a foothold of Sony and Nintendo's dominance) all the game hype we had heard about Halo had convinced us.
We bought our Xbox's just before Halo dropped, and we bought our copies on the day that Halo: Combat Evolved dropped.
We almost couldn't get the packages open fast enough (I'm surprised that the discs survived the onslaught...), we figured out how to link four Xbox's together, and had our first LAN party!
Oh the magic! No more split screening, we could have multiplayer without having the screen divided up into 2-4 little plots...
It's an experience I will never forget. Since then, when Xbox Live was debuted for/with Halo 2 (I was shocked in the ViDoc that Bungie pretty much wrote Xbox Live and made it work. That's so cool!), Matchmaking and online gaming has gotten so great!
But I will never forget buying an Xbox just for Halo and taking that risk, and having it be the best decision I have ever made in gaming.
