Maybe I'm just naturally optimistic, but if any of you have ever studied or read up on marketing, the date is irrelevent, it is building anticipation that is important. If they announced a revision that Halo 2 was actually coming out october 15th will it change anything? No, the date is not the important part of adverising. Come on, think about it, a site with so many hits, a mystery that is even reported by IGN, the obsession of fan boys and ARG gamers, I think that is clever marketing. We would not be having this conversation if it was not having an effect on our thinking about halo 2 would we?
Can you think of any marketing ideas that would attract more attention than a new release date? Bungie and microsoft could spend tens of millions of dollars, and it would still not get as much attention. And if anything is announced on the 10th, there will be a huge two week buildup of hype on the internet, so huge even CNN will air a story about it...That is the way to get attention.
My money is on a demo. Why go to all this trouble for screenshots?
