Subject: How much people play Halo 2 Vista?

Since MS is not letting H2 be online available in April 15 I might as well get it for Vista.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

Vista version is broken. Don't buy it. About 50 people are dedicated enough to get online to play. In other words, H2V is about as deserted as H2 Xbox, but H2V is very hard to get online with. The server browser doesn't work often.

Yeah. That's right. I don't have a 50 in H3. I never got Onyx in Reach. If a game sucks too much, I won't even bother trying for such trivial "accolades". Besides, I've done way more things that take far more skill and talent than anything that can be done in a video game.

To answer the question, 50-ish at peak hours. For a reason; It's nowhere near as good as other games.

very negative, but then again, Halo 2 Vista, and the so called "halo modding community" suck aswell.

50 in H2/H3? Great, but you still fail at this.

50-60 ish at most. Usually 100-200 unique users on a day, not all at once. And you need to take into account that a bunch have multiple gamertags, probably to evade server bans or for clans. And the community is crappy too, with people like MonstrMoose, Clans, and modders flaming each other to death.

fix'd 4 u.
no such thing as modders on H2V.

  • 03.22.2010 2:30 AM PDT

@jacob oh and what would be the ideal community hackers messing up matchmaking and modders dominating all the slayer matches, at least monstrmoose kicks out hackers and has decent game types+community

@the forum, most of the negativity towards h2v is true to some extent such as the servers not registering and no new updates and the map editor not allowing map makers to decompile tags. but.... h2v has many good qualities you won't find in other games like in halo ce the engine is sooo difficult to modify just to make some decent graphics but in h2v its much easier to make custom content and there are several very good map makers like kills alone and slaters furry who have made remakes of halo 3 maps and weapons and have made this boring game into something that you actually want to play

Halo 3 for PC.

listen fool!
Modders are 100% non-existent in Halo 2 Vista Multiplayer.
seriously, if there were modders, H2V would've been a better game.

Using the term "modder" to denote someone who cheats comes from console gaming communities, wherein people would mod their consoles in some way or another to make it happen. It means an entirely different thing in PC gaming, as modders are almost always a beneficial thing to any game.

Simply put, if you think cheaters = modders, you're a console gamer, and you clearly haven't been PC gaming much at all.

in halo ce the engine is sooo difficult to modify just to make some decent graphics but in h2v its much easier to make custom content

That right there screams "I don't know wtf I'm talking about."

Pretty much!

:3 I will die. :[

Okay.Halo 3 is actually better. If you were a "pro" player in Halo 2 Vista. You would be average in H3 if playing by M/K.Halo 2 has auto-aim so it's pretty unfair for legitimate players with M/K

His servers are full of n00bs, lame gametypes (like gemini ctf), and hackers who just ban evade the pcid bans, like MDHALO. Oh, and moose banned AsK for "hacking in a non moose server", yet hsg did the same in THEIR OWN SERVERS and didn't get banned.

LOL!!!
Custom edition is easier to mod, and has more mods as well. Why are the only custom maps with acutal modded weapons made by 1 person?
And even then, there is a aimbot that is undetectable because it is BUILT IN THE GAME!
And one last thing, the dedi server sucks.

ok let me clear this up if you think i have no idea what i'm talking about then you are woefully mistaken i know exactly what i'm talking about, yes halo ce is easier to mod and the mods are better but the graphics in every single one of their mods/maps are too painful to look at if you show me one map that has quality near h2v then you bring it forward also the halo ce engine is so outdated and collision models such as vehicles don't act like they should now about MM servers any system can be hacked thats very well known but it is much harder to hack in a MM server, i have never seen anyone actually hack inside one other people have but its rare and no people can't get back in the server even if they change their ip address MM gets all kinds of mail from hackers saying "oh my mean cousin came over and started hacking can i plz come back in" if you don't like playing in the MM servers then you are either a hacker an ask clan member or you have never played H2V

Wall of text.

Now, to refute your points. Halo 1 doesn't suffer from hacking thanks to the networking model it uses.

Secondly, there are plenty maps that compete with Halo 2's graphics. Check Halomaps.org.

1. There are a bunch of halo CE maps that look as good as H2V. H2V has bad graphics since is a straight port from PC to Xbox.
2. Who cares about the servers and how easy it is to hack? The most effective ban is the CD Key ban. All h2server can do is ban Gamertags (easialy evadable with any namehack). With mods, it can ban PCIDs and IPs, but it can not ban cd keys due to the way h2v and gfwl work.

You mean it was ported from Xbox to PC?

Many maps on CE boast far better eye-candy than anything H2V has to offer, MM is just as much failsauce as any other H2V player, and no, I haven't played H2V because I don't play games that are absolute crap.

You can go back to your Xbox, kid. Or your Xbox game pretending to be a PC game, whichever you prefer. I don't care, as long as you're not here slathering retardation all over this or any other thread.

Argh, biggest game had 5 players when I logged on today and basically every other server was empty. Really wish there were more people >.<

well ofcourse Halo 1 is -blam!- outdated, that doesn't make H2V any better.

Why else would we want Halo 3 for PC? =D

Every time I read something that I think is the stupidest thing ever and something can't replace it, something manages to replace it.

About 200 regulars throughout the whole day. About 50 - 70 Max online at once but finding games on vista is faster then halo to as you can drop in and out.

I think there will be a patch for H2V i am H2V player and add me HappyKiller911 . Iam not hacker, boter or whatever. i am legal gamer. I think there will come patch for it because Xbox H2V is now disabled and that is it. 81% sure about patch. By the way the patch will be so big xD!

  • 04.15.2010 5:43 AM PDT

as i said post a link to a decent custom map to prove your point now to those of you who think i don't own any pc games if you have halo 2 vista i'll meet you any time you want i also have halo ce but i lost my disk so i'll just play blood gulch trial
now I'm a map maker and i know the difference between the halo ce engine and the h2v engine and one thing has to be acknowledged and that is that most of the halo ce map makers are far better than the h2v ones but that doesn't mean their maps are better because what makes the h2v maps better is the light compiling software that was given with the game the mods for vehicles look like fun but i doubt there are many people playing halo custom edition any more
