It would be much easier if all threads on page 7 onward were simply arranged so they can't be responded to. Doing it the way you said would just make things worse.

Page 7? Zanzibar, for example, gets a new thread like every 10 seconds. So it would suck if you made a thread, 20 minutes later it is on page 8, and you can't revive it.

I'd push it to maybe page 30 or something.

I was just throwing out a number, namely, the number of perfection. But you are right, it might need to be a little larger for the more active forums.

if you ask me, all topics after page 300 9or something like that) might be deleted right away. Who actually needs to through a topic in New Mombasa that's on page 3000...

So you're saying that all those posts after page 7 should be locked? Not a bad idea, but then why not delete every thread? It would have the same effect. But then that would render the search feature pointless.

Not deleted, just impossible to respond to. It's not like you'd be losing anything, all old posts that are brought back to life are soon locked anyways, so why not fix the problem before it starts?

So, if someone made a thread, people got angry at him for that thread, but it isn't against the rules...and then that person left and his thread was moved back to page 10, how would he defend himself? I mean, people have come on numerous times to apologize for something their "idiot brother/sister" did, taking away the right to respond isn't the best way to fix the problem. Of course, not allowing someone to respond maybe, 30 pages back would work a lot better.

But then why have those posts in the first place if you can't respond to them? Deleting them would have the same effect: nothing to respond to. And the reason the old posts are locked is because some half-wit posts "bump" every time. With the addition of a search feature people will actually begin to add something constructive to the end of the threads.

Possibly. Even when (damn I almost put "if" there but remembered to change it) the search feature is implimented, I can't say for sure if people will still view bumping as a bad thing. I'll leave it up to Bungie and the mods to decide. Also, I said earlier that we would just lock the posts because there might be some old-timers wanting to look back to earlier days, and so forth.

Wait, we are old-timers. *Gasps*

Back on subject, after they implement the search feature, it'll still be easy to see which bumps are purposeful and which are spam. But the point of the search feature is for people to find old posts and respond to them with something to add. I find it hard to believe that that could be considered bad.
