People are reading into this "Ilovebees.com" and the August 24th date WAY too much. If anything, August 24th will be the release of the OXM magazine with a huge review of Halo 2..and thats about it. For all anyone knows, August 24th is the day that Microsoft/Bungie begin their adverstising campaign for the game and we begin to see commercials on t.v and limited edition Mt. Dew cans with MC on them or something NORMAL like that. Nov 9th is like 4 months away, thats 16 weeks give or take. NOT that big of a deal to wait till then. Screw all this speculation.
EDIT: Yeah, HOD, thanks for coming in and giving your 2 cents about my post. What a moron.

About the esrb rating i was wondering myself whether a game has to be fully done before it can be rated, so i went to the esrb website to officially answer my question. The answer is No ... on the website esrb just says that to rate a game the publishers have to fillout a questionare and send along with that footage of the most extreme game play. So just because H2 has been rated, does not necessarily mean that the game is done.

"wide awake and physical" doesn't sound like an advertising campaign but "this medium will metastatize" does (medium is the plural of media). So August 10th could be when the advertising campaign starts, and the game could release 14 days after that.

A few days ago I was saying that there was no way in hell of a release of a demo or full release of a game on the 24th.

Well, now my theory has changed and I am starting to catch on here.

Frankie clearly did not mention the ilovebees.com website in his update.
At all.
He didnt even acknowledge its existance.
What we have here is a top secret plan.
This ain't to "cortana letters" type thing. This countdown actually pertains to a release of either a demo or a game.

Now dont come and say, "IT SAYS NOVEMBER 9th! THATS WHEN IT IS SO SHUT UP!"

Because, clearly, Bungie is getting ratings in the UK, Germany, and the USA.

DING DONG ANYONE HOME!?

I have asked several sources this:
"Is a game done when the ESRB rating is given?"

In all cases I have recieved a "yes" because the game must be done for people to play it and see whether or not it is "M" or "T" or "E" or "Ao" or "eC"

Now combining in these factors, the fact that Frankie said nothing about it in the update, and the GIVEAWAY, the ESRB rating...i think it is clear that something rather large is going to happen.

The only fault in this theory is that Bungie would have to tell all magazines to be ready to review the game.

BUT
The thing is, all the gaming sites, all the magazines, they all know what is going on. They have been informed. The public has not.
Perhaps they were told that they would be recieving a reviewable copy of Halo 2 soon. Who knows,

And to finish this post in an off-topic way:
I saw the Manchurian Candidate last night.
Go see it now it should be nominated in several catagories.
It is clearly one of the scariest movies ever created.
Go see it now.

CONGRADULATIONS BROTHER YOU'VE SEEN THE LIGHT!

In that update, during the first demonstration in the UK, he said he encountered a serious jerking glitch that had to be fixed. With that in mind, I think the game still has to be worked on.

The beta was the time spent to find all those glitches, now it's time to fix them.

That is why I only think they will release a demo on august 24th, not the full game. They've still got bugs to fix for most of the game, but we know that people have already played the zanzibar mp level, so it is very possible that the zanzibar map (and possibly New Mombasa) would appear on a demo disk august 24th.

Guys - it's going to be a mass press release, and a possible demo.

Think about it, all the games that have demo discs are talking about a big thing next month, they all release August 24th. We can't 'Say Hello' to H2 any more than we've been able to in the past without holding some version of it in our hands. On the demo disc.

Now, the last few days they've been setting up the game room with what would seem to be the latest build of H2. The screens all have numbered tags, they are in groups of 4 around the posts, think about it guys: 6 Game Magazines or so at once go to Bungie for a giant H2 LANparty and some rocking demonstrations. They then come back with giant new screenshots, tales of awesomeness, and a short playable demo disc.

Really, by now it's obvious. I'm actually thinking that could be them in there on Cam 2 today. LANpartying and all.

In visiting other forums, I have read by other speculations through facts that there will be no demo. By that, I mean that there could be a demo.

Is it likely.. Not at all

1: Beta testing is still going on to *gasp* fix GLITCHING AND BUGS
2: ESRB ratings always come before the game so that they can advertise it before hand to increase sales. Also the content in the game is finished Bungie wont be adding new guns and vehicles now. So in a sense it finished enough so the ESRB crew can see the content they dont actually play the game.

Unfortuanately, Shadow, you are wrong. No offense though.
When a game is far before release and is needing to be advertised, they will use RP for the ads, which means rating pending.

Anyways why would ANYONE advertise for a game not coming out for two months?

August 17th 2001. Also insults dont help make your case any better providing your wrong on both fronts. And dont think that mister cheif sign meant the Beta was over that's not what it meant and SHISKA said it was still going on and even if it's not over it takes some 3 weeks to process all the info from the test.

Does anyone here remember the enkindu story a couple months ago. The exact same thing happened that is happening now. Everyone mistook Bungie's silence as them saying we are officially involved. Than what happened? When everyone found out that it was a fanfic there was quite an uproar. Moral to the story. Don't mistake Bungie's silence to mean that you are right or that they are involved..

Thanks for that, they say

"and watch for our top-secret, world-exclusive cover story! Can't tell you what it is now, but in a few weeks you'll be able to say helllo to an awsome new game that everybody will be dying to play"

Look, halo 2 inst a "new game" we and the press have known about it for 3 years., i mean yes we havent played it yet, but i wouldnt say its a new game in the sense that it hasnt been announced yet. Thats what i get from the above EGM quote , sounds like they are talking about something we havent heard of yet. Another thing, ALL, i repeat ALL the game magazines hit newstands aug. 24th. that is always the date for october issues. nothing special there. I DO THINK that something big will happen on aug 24, but i think that so far no one has been correct in what they think it is.

Thank you, i agree, we should all be excited, but definitely a lil more reserved in our anticipations, we might get let down. nothing may happen significant on aug 24th or maybe not.

But bungie obviously is involved in ilovebees.com. It's in THEIR trailer, and it is still on the downloadable trailer on their site, and if putting ilovebees.com in the trailer was the work of a hacker, they would have taken that out before the made it downloadable.

Draw your own conclusions from this:

Halo 2 in my opinion, has had it's release date flashed before our eyes more than any other game. Think about it on most websites you look at below the Halo 2 emblem you'll see November 9th under it as well. Fair enough people are very excited about Halo 2 but plenty of other games that people were ready to buy in bucket loads (e.g. Warcraft 3 or Zelda: Ocrina of Time or Gran Turismo 3 etc. etc.) have been advertsied all over the place yes, but perhaps with not as much emphasis as a game like Halo 2.

What does that mean? It could mean a number of things... :
* Bungie and Microsoft know that Halo 2 is a highly anticipated game and merely want to keep everyone informed about the its release date.
* Bungie had this who ilovebees thing planned out ages ago and they knew that it was almost certain to get people excited and make people think Halo 2 would be released early. So they emphasised their release date so much so people would realise that an early release oh H2 is not what will happen August 24th.
* It was all a big trick and by repeating their release date so much it would keep people off the trail of thinking that Halo 2 might come out on August 24th.

The only reason that I don't want to believe that Halo 2 will come out on August 24th is because I know that if Halo 2 isn't on shelves on August 24th, I'll be hugely dissapointed.

Just remember everyone. Imagine all this ILB never came along. We'd still probably all be pretty much convinced that Halo 2 was coming out on November 9th. So really, we've got nothing to lose...
