HEY.

I was curios if a 64MB DDR NVIDIA GeForce 4 4200 Go AGP 4X Graphics would run the effects of Halo very well. I know a 64MB card can cuz on a comp that my mom brought home from work for test that had a 64 it displayed the full effects (or almost full)

Thanks
Sincerely

Thats not answering my question.......besides, if I am going to get a new card, the 64 is the only choice I have. Please don't ask why.

will it run halo? yes. will it be awsome? probably not. but for only a few dollars, you could get something that is far beyond the capibilities of the 4200

my X300 SE is 128 MB and it's under $100. Why would you settle for a 64MB video card? I think the regular X300 can borrow some of the system RAM for even more memory for all the video.

This card runs Halo fairly well. My freind has one and he has all the graphics options on high at 1024x768 (gets 33fps in timedemo). I would get the 128 version because my freind's 64meg card does not have enough memory to run anymore than 2x anti-aliasing with some games. Max payne 2 actually gives a message refusing to use more than 2x anti-aliasing at 1024x768. The ti4200 64 meg runs Halo a little bit better than my 9600pro.

Please don't get caught up in the "My card has 256Mb of memory, therefore my graphics are better and faster than yours" thing.

Having 256Mb of memory or even 128Mb of memory on a card will not make it run any faster unless the game itself is set up to USE it.

The thing you will want to look at is the card's speed itself. Yes having more memory is good for games like HL2 and Doom3 where they are built to use it, but in halo it will just be wasted.

I have a GeForce Ti 4200 video card. The only difference being that mine has 128 MB DDR and can interface at AGP 8x. Now, my motherboard doesn't support AGP 8x, so it only runs at AGP 4x. Some of the effects I have to turn down on Halo, but not off.

I hope that answers your question. PM me if you have more.
