Subject: Halo 2 LTD and Xbox 360: Fails to load

I have recently acquired a copy of Halo 2 (xbox) and am having problems getting it to load games.

I have downloaded all available updates that I know of off of XBL and that didn't help the issue (running version 1.5). The main Menu loads just fine, but any time I go to start campaign (or even some multiplayer maps) it says that there is a disc error and that the map failed to load. To all appearances the data portion of the disc is flawless. No greasy spots or scratches.

I am wondering if anyone else has had this issue with Halo 2 and their Xbox 360, and if there is a cure.

The best advice I can offer is to try the stuff listed here. It seems to solve 95% of the problems.

Thanks for the info. I will try all of those things. Hopefully something works!

I get that a lot. I play on my original box and the disk is fine. I slap it in the 360 and the disk is unreadable. To solve this problem I've learned if you insert the disk enough times the disk will eventually play.

I have this same problem with other original disks too. My grandson starts up an arcade game, then inserts H2 and says that works but I don't know.

I did get it to 80% load the first campaign level... once. That was right after I updated everything. So maybe it's just a "try it till it works" problem.

Try that arcade thing, my grandson is 15 and is usually right about computer things. I mean, sometimes my 360 will fail to even recognize my disk at all so I run an arcade game first then try it and it will work. I can't swear it's the same problem as yours.

Well it's not the Game Programing itself or my Xbox 360. It's the Disc. It has a hairline stress fracture in the center (by the hole that is used to spin the disc). I didn't think it was big enough to affect the playability of the disc, but I was wrong. I stuck it in a friends Original Xbox and it was having the same problems.

I did get one game in on Xbox Live. Woot!
