So with Halo 2 multiplayer coming to a close and Halo Reach Beta coming out soon, I decided to finally stop putting off picking up the first two games. I started playing late in the Halo saga, picking up Halo 3 the Christmas after it's release along with my Xbox 360. I kept hearing all these things about Halo 1 and 2's epic... epicness. After just finishing Halo: CE's campaign for the first time (Heroic), I just can't seem to figure out how people still feel it's the best in the franchise. I won't argue that for the games of the time it certainly was amazing in comparison, but playing it years later it just feels... meh. Once I adapted to the slightly weaker shield and started taking advantage of cover, I could start appreciating the uniqueness of the game. Even though I already knew the entire back story of the flood, the dark corridors and strange absence of enemies at times made for a quite frightening experience. I can honestly say that was the most memorable feature of the game. What I found quite frustrating though was the repetitiveness of the combat. My finger is still sore from camping with a shotgun in the Library, and one shoting hunters in the back with a pistol did little to spice things up. Overall though, I feel all three games in the trilogy are really spectacular, but, as to those of you who argue that one was better than the others, I can't quite understand your close mindedness.
