Recon..??

another thing I remember, the first time i encountered them I was on co op, so I was hiding behind my dads character the whole time saying "AHHH COCKROACHES! GIANT MUTANT ONES!!! DAD! KILL IT!!!" then the combat forms came and i was super scared, I called them zombies, and I was especially scared with a speaker behind my head i thought they were all around me.
I still get a little chilled when i am on 343 level.

I was like 9 or so when I saw them at a friends house. My my parents didn't let me have an xbox until I was 12. My memories had gotten fuzzy but I knew "they" were coming even if I didn't quite remember who "they" were. And then the cutscene sort of took away the surprise anyway. Next level W T F ROCKET LAUNCHER!!!!!!!

"Living in the past is a luxury none of us can afford..."
"I know what the ladies like..."

I began missing the covenant. I'd have never again been caught so off guard by a game. The only compareable shock was the surprise Bungie gave me again when you teamed up with the flood in Halo 3!

Hey-Low 4 Life

All the choices would still be viable options if the topic was about The Flood forum and not The Flood in HALO: CE. lol.

I first played halo 3 at a friends house (this was like 5 years ago) and we got to the first flood level and I didn't know what was going on when the covenant ship crashed. So I start the level and got to a little area then HOLY M***** F****** S*** B****!!! I freaked the f*** out, cuz I wasnt really a big horror game player so I wasnt used to this. I just let the AI's do some of the work run away then get butt f*****. True Story...

  • 06.16.2011 7:57 PM PDT

I just pray to God, Buddah, and Tom Cruise that they are not in Halo 4.

  • 06.16.2011 8:07 PM PDT

I completely freaked out and had to pause the Xbox for a while. I was sort of like, he look that door is moving o_0 WTF IS THAT OMG IT'S FREAKIN EVERYWHERE! WHAT DO I DO I CAN'T KILL THEM FAST ENOUGH. I especially hated the Library where there are SO MANY MORE THAN I CAN HANDLE. Best moments of my gaming history though. NEVER has a game scared me like that.

  • 06.16.2011 10:11 PM PDT

I just sat there silently. So many thoughts rushed through my head that one moment. WHAT THE HELL ARE THESE LITTLE MONSTROSITIES OF RANDOM MUSHROOM APPEARANCE!!! I was so scared I couldn't move. I got over that when the first door broke open and the "little mushroom whatevers" started crawling everywhere. Xbox off, run for my life. And I wasn't even playing it.

I came back two weeks later and gave it a try and met the combat forms for the first time. I felt a lot better after seeing them because I thought they were robots due to the little sparks that came off them if you shot a dead one. Took me until Halo 2 to realise they were elites and humans.

Of course I was 6...

Before I can tell you the first flood experience ever... I need to show you how timid i was when i first began playing halo as a small child.

So the very first playable part where you do your "orientation" and all, I was expecting firearms training when the AIs started talking about it and felt disappointed when i heard the mysterious captain say "no i think he is ready" so i felt realllly BA. Then.... the guy up in the observation deck starts panicking then im confused... then next thing I see is the doors to the right exploding open and two inhuman horrific monsters shoot the innocent guy, then that disappointment turned into a panic and a NEED TO FIND A WEAPON, but my initial reaction wasn't this... instead I turned off the console I got so scared and didn't play it again for days (while I mildly enjoyed play Cel Damage).

Now for the meat of the story...

So by now I had gotten used to killing covenant baddies in various manners, be it smashing, shooting, exploding, or otherwise disemboweling. I was pretty psyched about this game and laughed at myself for ever being scared of such a awesome piece of awesome-ness. Then I hear Foehammer talking about contacting her as soon as I found the captain, so I thought another search and rescue op, I figured that the captain had gotten captured when I saw the crashed pelican, but i was listening to the radio transmissions and thats when things started getting freaky. I kept on playing, but things just kept getting weirder, already dead covie bodies, weird noises, this haunted feelings as i kept plunging deep into the innards of the forerunner structure.

As I approached the revealing cutscene, I was pretty freaked out by all the blood. Then the cutscene begins, and thats probably one of my favorite cutscenes ever...now... but then I was scared out of my mind when i first saw these little bubbles attacking people and crap, and all of the audio didn't help I'm pretty sure if I knew curse words then I would of been something alone the lines of... HOLY F*** S****... but I paused it and sat there freaked out staring at the pause screen and made myself about 3 cups of hot chocolate and watched the pause screen for another 10 minutes then i finally picked up the controller again shaky and hit the pause button and then chief tosses the clip out of his helmet and grabs his gun then its my turn to fight them. first the infection forms came, they were like if Satan had genitellia(sp) those would be his testicles. Little furry... man eating... testicles. Then the combat forms. After that I pretty much said F*** this. And went completely Apes*** on them, i'm talking reckless abandon running through the rest of the level shooting whatever was infront of me frantically jumping from one ledge to another doing anything I could to escape them, and when I finally reached the elevator at the top where Johnson and the marines were, I still just kept running, but then I ran out of places to run and that little floating B****** took me to their hive or something. The rest of the game consisted of me having heart attacks (idk from the hot chocolate and andrenaline or maybe the stains from soiling myself so much in a hours time had something to do with it)

All and all, I think bungie has more credit to soiled pants than Pampers.

(sorry for all the spelling and grammar errors :s I was feeling rushed.)

Unfortunately, I was twelve when I first saw the Flood, and the game was Halo 3.

If my first Halo game had been Combat Evolved, though, I'm pretty sure I would have shat bricks.

  • 06.16.2011 11:31 PM PDT

upon looking back when i first fought the flood i was terrified by the level 343 guilty spark because of the mood and atmosphere, then their was the privates helmet...i wasnt truly afraid of the flood but when i saw how many there were in contrast to the amount of covenant im used to fighting, thays what scared me. also seeing keyes turned into a "protogravemind",yea i had nightmare from that scene. Then again i was like 8 at the time so what are you gonna do?

Fun fact:my friends and I establish nicknames for the flood forms(of course it seems we werent thew only ones)but here is what we called them:
Infection forms:Popcorn
Combat forms:Mutants/freaks/zombies
Carrier forms:Ballons

My first Halo was Halo 2 and after that Halo 1 (how logical, i know :P)

I started with ODST, then 3, then Wars, then Reach then 1. I was totally suprised when I saw the 1 flood cause, they like have eyes. They're not as creepy in 1 in my opinion. When they infect the marines, It's really creepy. But they definitely add a cool aspect to the game and I hope they resurface in Halo 4.

I honestly didn't care. I had already played Halo 3 before Combat Evolved. I kinda saw it coming when Cortana started freaking out about the ring and stuff.

Live Long and Consume Banana Oil, ya' Spoony Bards!

When I first encountered The Flood, I nearly pissed my pants. Seriously, #$# Guilty Spark was one of the creepiest levels that I had ever played up to that point in any video game, at least until I got AVP 2 Gold edition for the PC. Anyway, I wasn't freaked out so much by the Infection forms; those were only scary when my shields were down. The true terror began when I encountered the Combat Forms. I needed to have a friend help me get through the level because I was so scared the first time I played it. I can get through the level fine now, but the first time was sheer terror.

I ran away and didn't touch that game for another 2 months.
