Sorry for the shortness. I'm tired.

P.9

If Dante didn't get back to the base soon, he was meat. Flooring it, he sped down the highway. This was bad, very bad. After two hours of driving, it was obvious that he would be missed. He didn't regret it though. Seeing his family again was worth any punishment the UNSC would dish out.

When he got close, he saw smoke in the air. He narrowed his eyes, this couldn't be good. He arrived at the base, and his jaw dropped. What use to be a stronghold was now a pile or ruble and bodies. Dante heard voices, and a loud crack. It was the innies.

The Spartan ran on top of a large pile of rubble, and looked down at a group of four insurgents. Three were Elites, and one was a human. In the middle of them were three dead marines. Dante jumped off of the pile, and drop kicked the human in the side of his head, obliterating his skull. Dante skidded to a halt, picked up a steel rod from the debris, and spun it in his hand.

The rod slammed into one of the Elites, sending him through the air, and impaling him on a metal spike sticking out of a wrecked building. Dante picked took the pistol from a dead marine, knocked the shields off of the remaining Elites with the rod, and fired one bullet into each of their heads. Neither had any time to react.

E18 heard innies talking quietly. From the commotion, they knew it was a Spartan, and they were going to try and sneak up on him. Dante dropped the pistol, threw off his dress uniform's blazer, and picked up two plasma rifles. This would be easy.

When the innies popped out from behind the remnants of a wall, Dante was already waiting for them. There were six of them, each wielding battle rifles. The Spartan had no trouble taking out the first three with plasma bolts to the face, but the others took cover. Dante threw one of the plasma rifles, and obliterated their hiding place. They tried to run, but plasma bolts struck them in the back before they could make it more than five feet.

E18 heard a warthog start up, and he headed for a hiding place. He jumped into a small crater next to a dead marine. On his belt was a single grenade. "This will do." When the Warthog came by, Dante jumped out onto the hood with the grenade, slammed his fist into the front, and let go of the grenade. He jumped back as the vehicle detonated.

Pieces of metal accompanied by body parts flew through the air. Dante stood still, looking at the mess. He felt sick. This wasn't a fight, this was butchery. There was a moan from underneath a pile of rocks. Dante followed the noise until he was right on top of it. He dug through the rubble to find Sarah on the brink of death.

P.1

Dante's vision began to clear. Everything felt numb. "Am I dead?" He mumbled. People tend to say odd things when coming out of sedation.

"No, time to rise and shine soldier." A doctor replied.

"But I just got through an operation. Isn't this dangerous?"

"No, we've kept you out for a while. You're completely healed. We gave you a chemical that prevents muscle deterioration, so you won't need rehab."

Dante sat up, and swung his legs over the side. They flung over the edge with a force that shocked the Spartan. He went to stand, and he was on his feet in a flash. "This is normal, right?"

"Yeah," The doctor confirmed, "you're augmentation went perfectly."

Dante wobbled back and forth. He would have to do some serious adjusting. A grin appeared on his face as he spread his rock hard arms to retain his balance. "This is cool." He dressed in a huge set of olive drab fatigues, and exited the room. There was quite a bit of commotion in the colossal room he stepped into. Spartan Fours were everywhere. Each one had a doctor tending to him or her, making sure they were in tip top condition after being taken out of deep sedation.

Spartan A16 approached Dante as he sat down on a table, and a doctor began to examine him. She almost fell over as she stopped. "Are you feeling weird too Dante?"

"Yeah, I do. I'm sure we'll get it soon. You ready to end this war?"

"Hell yeah," Sarah replied, pounding his fist, "Let's give those god damn innies a kick in the ass."

"E18?" A voice said. Dante turned around to see a man in a blue uniform. "Lord Hood wants to see you."

The Spartan was shocked. "Lord...Hood?"

"Yes, follow me." Dante did what he was told. After a long walk through the base, he was delivered into a conference room.

An old man sat in a leather chair. He was balding, and his face was covered in wrinkles. He looked like he could keel over any moment. "Dante, that's your name?"

"Yes." Dante confirmed.

"Well, for now I'll call you E18."

"Really, you can just call me D-"

"Down to business E18. After doing my research, I've found you to be, well, worthy. You outdo the others in almost every way. I need someone to report directly to me, but be in combat, a liezon. Will you take this job?"

"Yes sir." Dante replied in his soldier voice.

"Good. That will be all, Master Chief." Dante looked around the room, and lord hood folded his hands, "That's you, soldier."

"Oh." The Spartan whispered

"Dismissed," E18 turned around, and headed for the door, and Hood continued, "You've got some damn big shoes to fill soldier."

Dante paused for a moment, then left. As he walked back to the medical bay, he realized his balance was back. He had already adjusted. When he reached his destination, he saw Brian, Spartan C12 stepped in front of him. "How are you feeling?" He asked.

"Good." The Chief said.

Sarah was a blur to everyone but the Spartans as she ran to her two friends, and stopped inbetween them. "Whacha guys talking about?"

"You," Brian replied, "And how much of a loser you are."

"Very funny."

Dante stopped a doctor as he walked by. "Have you seen Spartan A10?"

The doctor looked at his clipboard, scrolling his finger across the paper. "He didn't make it." The man went on his way as if nothing had happened.

Everything slowed down for Dante as he processed the words. Gale was dead? Impossible. He couldn't die, he was Dante's friend. The surgeries were meant to be safe now, weren't they? Sarah placed a light hand on his shoulder, and drew him back into the world. "I'm sorry D."

Dante immediately made an emotionless face. "For what?" He was a Spartan now, and Spartans had to be strong. They weren't allowed to feel sad about death, and they never did. The books said so.
Dante got his entire side blown off and was pulled into a micro dyson sphere then onyx was destroyed, oh i forgot to mention he was buried six feet under!
Oh great now That i read chapter one.
i just recalled that the guy behind the spartan iii project died and halsey is in a micro dyson sphere along with the spartan III's of teams Saber Katana and Blue team... and the master chief is drifting in space... so there is no way that this project would be considered Spartan IV.
maybe Gladiator I but not Spartan IV

Part. 10

Spartan A16's ribcage was exposed. A large chunk of the front of her helmet was torn off, and her right leg plates where torn to shreds. "D-Dante?"

"Yeah, it's me." E18 formed a fake smile, and put a hand on Sarah's shoulder. He tried to speak, but no words came out. This was it, she was going to die. No, Dante wouldn't let that happen. He had to find some sort of communication device, and fast.

The Spartan turned around to see four innies pointing their weapons at him, "On your knees!" One shouted. Dante was furious. Hell was in his eyes, and the insurgents saw it. The look on the giant's face caused them all to go pale. One even turned tail and ran. The rest fired, but E18 jumped over their bullets, and tackled all three to the ground.

The Spartan's vice grip hands grabbed two of the innies by the throat, and his foot smashed a hole through the chest of the third. He crushed their throats, and threw them to the side. The fourth had made some distance, but that wasn't an issue.

Dante sprinted as fast as he could, and slid to a halt in front of the fourth innie. "P-please! No! Don't hurt me!" The man begged.

"Like you didn't hurt my friends?!" The Spartan roared, "Just like that, right?! Yeah I won't hurt you, I'll let you walk away and spare your pathetic little LIFE!" He drew the combat knife from the innie's belt, and jammed it into the soft spot between the man's chest and shoulder. Again and again he dug the blade into non-lethal points in the man. He cried for the Spartan to stop, tears mixing with the blood that spattered his face, but Dante was too far gone.

The serrated edges of Dante's knife ripped chunks of flesh from the insurgent's body. Finally, the Spartan shoved the knife into his stomach, and pushed up, slipping his forearm into the man's body. When he pulled the blade out, organs poured to the ground. A swift kick sent the corpse flying through the air.

Dante dropped to his knees, and hung his head. What was he turning into? He wasn't becoming a Spartan like he thought he would, no, he was becoming a monster. He made a sudden realization; he didn't know where the rest of his Spartans were. Surely not all of them were buried. They must have been captured.

Dante cried out at the top of his lungs. If he hadn't left, he could have stopped this. It was his fault that so many people had died. The whine of incoming pelicans grabbed Dante's attention. There were five of them, just over the horizon, coming to the base.

The Spartan felt relief, and then worry. He ran to Sarah, and found her motionless. He lightly shook her, "Sarah, wake up," there was no response, "Sarah, they're here, wake up." Still, there was nothing. Dante looked back up at the pelicans. They were much closer now. "Sarah?" He whispered, touching her cheek. Three fingerprints of blood were left on her skin from Dante's hands, "Sarah...please." His voice was quivering now. "Damn it!" The Spartan shouted as he burst into tears.

The pelicans touched down, and marines ran out. They swept the area with their guns, and broke off into parties. Three men approached Dante. When they saw Sarah, one knelt down, and felt her pulse. He looked up at one of his men. "Get a body bag." His voice was emotionless, as if nothing had happened at all.

Dante watched as the body bag was retrieved, and Sarah was placed inside. He was devastated, his chest sinking as the marine pulled the zipper up. He looked at Sarah through the broken part of her helmet until she was fully obscured by the black bag. He would never forget her.

Planet: Earth

Location: Mombassa

Operation Hunt Down

CO: Sergeant Terry McGovern [Codename; Shadow // ODST // Spec Ops]

Shadow turned the van left down Main street. Cars whizzed by, the sound of beeping horns filling the air. Riding shotgun was Canine, in the back, Sparrow, Meat, and Tank. They wore civilian clothes, however under their shirts was a thin buckeyball fiber vest, stopping above their gut to provide mobility with the otherwise movement impairing fabric.

Sparrow nervously toyed with his BR55. He was the rookie, this being his first mission in the Task Force. It was possibly the most dangerous branch to be in. Meat noticed, and patted him on the shoulder, "Don't worry kid, you'll be fine." It seemed to calm Sparrow down a bit, but he was still edgy.

Canine leaned around the back of his seat, and looked at Sparrow, "Try not to get shot bro, we do leave men behind."

"Alright." The rookie replied, trying to hold back the slight quiver in his voice.

Meat exhaled, "That's not true."

"Yeah it is." Canine retorted.

"Jesus Christ."

"I'm just tryin to scare the new guy." Canine said, facing forward again."

Shadow pressed on his earpiece, "HQ, does the drone have a visual on our target?"

Affirmative. His car is one block ahead, the red Genesis Ranger.

"Got it," Shadow looked at the traffic lock, then turned to his men, "Pile out, we're walkin." Everyone charged their weapons, and exited the car. They ran through the maze of cars, closing in on their target. When they reached the car, they moved to its sides it, and pointed their weapons at the two men inside.

"Out of the car, now!" Tank shouted. The men didn't comply, so he smashed the driver seat's window open, and reached his arm in to unlock the door. Opening it, he pulled the man out, and threw him on the ground, cuffing him. The passenger drew out a magnum, and aimed it Tank. Sparrow fired a three shot burst into the man's head, spattering the inside of the car with blood and brains.

Meat narrowed his eyes, "This isn't our target."

"We've got a runner!" Canine yelled, pointing his gun at a man in a red shirt bolting away.

Shadow fired a three shot burst into the cuffed innie's head, and ran forward. "Pursue!"

"Where the hell did he go?" Canine said.

Our drone has a visual. He's on the other side of the crowd ahead of you.

"Affirmative." Shadow replied. The team ran into the crowd, pushing people aside. "Switch to semi-automatic." The team complied, turning the switch on their BR55s from three shot burst, to semi. They wanted to disable the man, not kill him.

When they made it to the other side of the crowd, they frantically swept their eyes around the street. "There he is!" Sparrow shouted, pointing his rifle at the target. The innie turned around to see if anyone was following, and saw the armed men. Drawing his magnum, he fired at them.

A bullet cut through Meat's neck, and he fell to the ground, choking on his own blood. "Meat's down!" Canine alerted.

"I'll get him!" Sparrow said, about to turn around.

"Negative," Shadow intervened, "Stay on target."

"But-"

"That's an order!"

"I've got a shot!" Tank stated.

"Do not fire!" Shadow said frantically, "I repeat do not fire! There are too many civilians in the area." The innie fired again, hitting Canine in the chest. The bullet flattened on his vest, falling to the ground. This time, people noticed. There were screams as the city dwellers ran in every direction, trying to get out of the crossfire.

"Sh1t!" Canine cursed, "I've lost visual."

He's taken a left turn on the next intersection.

"Rodger HQ." Shadow said. The team turned left, and spotted their man. Their were civilians, but not many. This might be the best shot they would get. Sparrow was the closest to the man, and had a clear shot. "Sparrow , can you make the shot?"

The soldier hesitated, "I-I think so."

"Can you make it or not?!"

"Affirmative, I can make the shot!"

"Take it, now!"

"Firing!" Sparrow aimed his gun at the target's legs. The innie, twisted his torso around again, his pistol aimed at the ODST. Both of them fired at the same time, Sparrow's bullet severing the target's lower spine, and the innie's bullet lodging itself in Sparrow's head.

The innie fell to the ground, pathetically trying to crawl away. When the soldiers reached him, shadow stepped on the man's arm, policing his weapon. Shadow, slammed the target's face down on the concrete, breaking his nose as he cuffed him. "HQ we've bagged the target, it's him."

Shadow kicked the door to General Eli Ackerson's office open, walked in, and swiped everything off of the man's desk. "Somebody's angry." Ackerson said.

"Damn right!" Shadow yelled, "I lost two men back there, one that I've known since boot! That innie better have some damn good intel!"

"Of course he does." Ackerson leaned forward in his chair, resting his forearms on his wooden desk, and folding his fingers, "He knows who's responsible for the attack on the Spartan's base, and where he's hiding. He also knows the location of our Spartans. Personally I would like to leave them to die, but Lord Hood insists that we save them."

"I don't care about your familly grudges, what I care about is getting in on that mission."

"Why would you want to do that?"

"If it wasn't for the attack, today wouldn't have happened. I want to get even."

"If I send you on that mission, you will die." Ackerson said casually.

"And why is that?" Shadow asked.

"That's classified."

"Of course. You know, you're even more of a bastard than your father. Hopefully you'll get your head lopped off too." The ODST turned around, and headed for the door.

"Alright, you want in? You're in." Ackerson said with a blank face. "We're going to need some cannon fodder anyway."
