"When I eat pretzels I imagine myself as a giant eating tree trunks."

Impossible. The flood require a noticible area of infection for them to gain control of the spinal cord and rapidly destroy the host's brain and make room for the flood organs and new brain. This is how the flood can completely dominate its host and grant it complete control. No visible spinal cord is available for engineers, I don't even think that they have one. Also, as the flood spore would penetrate the engineers body - as they do for any other being to gain control - the gas sacks would deflate, leaving a hopeless flood spore attached to a deflated engineer. The engineers would, also, not have the knowledge that the flood would need. Why did flood infect humans? To find Earth - to expand their reign. Same as they did for forerunners, and covenant. The engineers aren't that full of knowledge valueable for flood control. It would just lead them in a circle.

Cookie for me? Or do I just get tofu? :D
