One feature I thought would be nice in groups is if we could have an automated ranking system. It could be optional, and I guess it could be based on how many posts or maybe even how long a member has been in a group (someone could be automatically promoted to a ranking called "Veteran Member" after a certain time period, for example).

The main reason I want this is because it would save time, instead of manually going to the members list and promoting someone (I hope I don't sound too lazy by saying that). I mean, we could still have the option to promote someone manually, but I thought this would be nice.

As much as I would like to see that too, I think its a hard coded thing to do with the forum or something and I don't think its part of this set-up Bungie has in place. But that's just my opinion. I don't know much, but I have some friends who build forum engines and they told me ranking systems for post counts are built in and if they are not, cannot be applied.

You'd still run into the usual problem. That is, people posting random messages to get their rank up. I think it's best if we just left how it is for right now, it's not that hard to change ranks in any case.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

There would have to be a limit. Cuz people would spam to get a high rank and take over.

So the system would have to end before power is given.

Unless you have a large group. But anyway, It would be better if this was a turn on and off option. Then the founder can decide and take it off if it becomes an issue.

I'll be on my own side.

lets stick with the system we have now. it works fine. The people with power have control over who gets power. We dont need no ranking/levelling system. its just a forum. if stupid people have power, the person who gave them that power is at fault if the gropu dies. Idiots with power can be prevented, you just have to be sure of who youre giving mod powers to. If you have trusted friends as mods, you should have no worries. also, if youve been on B.net as long as me and Barron have, youre already veterans.

Even if you have a large group I don't see the need to give mass groups of people a title. As it is all you need to do is make everyone a member and create a few moderators. If you wanted to give out rewards to your regular members, I see no problem with it, however I DO have a problem people being rewarded automatically for post count alone. If one of your members writes good, well thought out posts, reward him for those actions rather than advocating the idea of posting frequent, short, not as well thought out posts.

Things given out automatically is a bad idea.

I hate the idea of people getting somewhere for doing absolutely nothing.

Okay then, instead of a role, couldn't it just be a title (with no special powers than the normal member)? I think roles like "Veteran Member," for example, would be nice.

It can be if you get more than 100 members.

Edit-*sorry, didn't realize you touched on that earlier in the thread*
