Exalted Mythic should be changed to "the most nerdy"

Shhh!

I don't care too much for the title system but Batzter's suggestion for an Epic member is pretty cool.

Wait so do you mean that they should just keep it at a Mythic Member instead of maybe a Fabled Mythic Member or Exalted Mythic Member?
No. The prefixes are fine and should remain, but the base titles should be increased to say, seven (from four).
Valient Member
Superior Member

Cordial Member
Veracious Member
Enduring Member
Resolute Member

Just a few, but none of them sound too great. : (

I actually like these; the ones I really don't like are Superior Member and Deluxe Member.
Aw, why thank you, Vanvert.Posted by: Buggy Virus
We could just add a few new prefixes.

Enduring

Resolute
Woo-hoo!

Haha.

New titles? Pish Posh [did i really just say that?]

Just change the formula so there are more heroics and legendary members.

i mean, when you say titles, do you actually mean Titles, or do you mean Prefixes? [oh, nevermind, just saw the post above]

I would like this but I never see anything the community want to actually happen on bungie.net...

Analogy time: You have been cleaning some old ladies garden for five years, and then some new kid comes and cleans it for a week. The old lady dies and leaves all her money to be divided equally between the two of you.
Fair?

Life isn't fair, get used to it.

I agree that there should be a new title for people who have been around for a very long amount of time and have been active for most of it.

  • 04.04.2010 9:29 AM PDT

I don't know how to go on this subject. I've been on this website for 3+ years almost, and haven't gotten past the "member" title. Yet, people recognize me easily and I am extremely active; oh well!

New titles would be cool to change it up and it will be cool to make mythic even harder to get.

OhEmGee some r gun haz mah rank 2!

Seriously, though, you got Mythic status because you've been here for a very long time and have remained active. Why shouldn't other people get to the same level you are?

So does this mean I can do the PM version of drunk dialing you when I'm lonely? Seriously though thanks, I already enjoy this group a lot so I'm planning on staying.

Oh god yes.
Er, I mean, yes sure. They certainly give an interesting look into a person ^.^;

Well, I don't think the original ranks were made with the intention of new ranks being put between them. I mean how are you going to put a rank between heroic and legendary? Leroic? I think all the ranks would need to be removed with new ones to have make some sense.

I'd like my title to officially be changed to Beer Monger. If that's not possible I'll settle for Cheese Elitist. Thanks.

Because. . . he was a moderator? I don't know, but you have to admit it is unfair. Here's another analogy.

You are the 21-year-old son of a rich brain surgeon and some nice lady. Well, your father leaves your mother and marries a prositute who happens to have a fifteen year old son. He and yoru father begi nto start hanging out. One day, they go on a hunting trip when your step-brother's 12-Gauge goes off and kills your father. Before he died, however, he declared [in his will] that half of his fortune will go to the step-brother. You, having known and been the son of the man for 21 years, now have to share his fortune with a 15-year-old kid who he's known for a few months (He married the prostitute very early in the relationship).

Now, Skibur's might have been a tad bit better than mine, but still, you'd think it was unfair.

P.S. I forgot to mention, but you hate the step-brother too.
Maybe. . .

Okay, the OP likes analogies. So I have one for the OP and then I have a solution. Please bare with me here.

Analogy:

Let's say B.net is the community pool. At the pool we can get the expert swimmer badge (Mythic) by being a member for a certain amount of time, good swimming ability, and of course following the rules.

The OP has the expert swimming badge (Mythic, highest badge). The OP became a member of the pool back in 2004. Great swimmer. Over time more members joined the pool. Over time they have excelled in their swimming ability. Some of those members are now going to get their expert swimming badge in the near future. They have met the requirements.

The OP now says well you didn't join the pool when I did. Even though you have met all the requirements that I have, you shouldn't be an expert swimmer because I was here before you. As a matter of fact, we should now make it so it takes longer to get the expert swimmer badge and harder. Harder than what it took me to get it.

It should be harder for you because I've been here longer. No, you can't have that badge. Yes it took me X amount of years to get it. Oh, you have been here x amount of time now? Never broken the rules? I was here first.

Sounds sort of ridiculous huh?

Solution:

Since once a member here will get Mythic by following the rules and being an active member over a certain period of time, Mythic members should also have a Roman numeral to the right of their title, regardless of their prefix.

Examples:

Elder Mythic Member XII

Noble Mythic Member VI...and so on.

The Roman numeral shows how long you have been here. It should be available to Mythic members only. It gives positive incentive to everyone, plus acknowledges members tenure here. It is also slightly educational. I think I know a few Roman numerals...you get what I am saying. If you have to look up what a Roman numeral means, well you just educated yourself.

This continues to give acknowledgment to even Elder Mythic members. It also keeps people around as in, "Wow, I only have two more months and I get my XV, fifteen years!"

I think this is a fair and just solution. It in no way can be manipulated and all the same rules still apply. Just when you get Mythic, your number of years are shown next to your title. You get banned, God forbid, hey you loose that blue bar and your nifty Roman numeral. All the more reason to play nice.

Exactly, but life can't stop us from making things fair! Just because something's unfair doesn't neccessarily mean that it has to stay unfair. After all, this is a website, and making tweaks can always be a possibility. : )

  • 04.04.2010 10:20 AM PDT

We need a madness to the method!

The only question is, what's beyond Mythic?

And yes. I'm guessing that I'll be Mythic by 2011. It really isn't fair for the 2002-2006 Mythic members.

Hmmm. . . I can't really think of anything.

Not if I can help it, Dom!

MUHAHAHAHAHA!

OT: I do agree. I think there should be a few more ranks a little easier to achieve for the newer members. Nothing major, but something like New Member and later gets a slightly higher rank just for that sense of achievement.

The new Mythic title would look like this:

New Mythic title.

Very simple yet shows how long a Mythic member has been here.

(I just used myself as an example for quickness and ease of work flow.)

I agree with Rollin on Delta's analogy, it's very good and he offers a better solution then skiburs. Why should I be denied mythic just because I did not join in 2007 or whenever? I followed the rules just as well as they did, and I staid long enough to deserve it.

Agreed. I think Mythic members deserve that recognition. Plus it gives us all positive incentive.
