Nice alt, Cooper SV, but it's the worst disguise I've ever seen :/

nourdoinitwrong.

How is it a disguise? Neither account is banned.

No wonder you were a terrible mod.

Dang!

this thread was at like 3 pages yesterday.
Even so, I still think the system is fine the way it is.

@Helveck

Just an Average Joe...

Um, I'd have to disagree. I agree with Duardo in the fact that it is about trust, not necessarily time spent here. Although it used to be a pretty decent indicator of you being an older member, it now no longer is really, but oh well - they're just titles. Nothing of importance. This is the internet after all!

I think the current combination of prefixes and bases makes plenty of available titles.

I agree. Maybe a couple of titles, since it's fun to watch people, and yourself, go up and down in the title system, but not too many, as it would kind of become a bother to see who fits where, which title is higher than the other, etc.

The addition of prefixes was cool, but it was kind of an "add on" to the current system, where it was cool to achieve a different one, but your base title still explained your experience and trust, instead of prefixes which are more along post preferences or styles. More titles would add on to the fun.

Also, maybe the titles that already exist, specifically the higher ones like Mythic, could have the same cap, otherwise certain titles would be extremely hard or even impossible to achieve. If the caps and trust system where changed to fit a new title system, then I would at least expect the things that gained or removed trust points to be modified. IE if a post was [hypothetically] 5 points, and the Mythic requisite was something like 10,000, then when the new system came out, the new Mythic requisite was 20,000 to fit the new titles in, then the current system would be multiplied by 2 also. So if you were a Mythic with 10,000, your trust would be 20,000, and posts would be edited to 10 points.

That's just something to serve as an example, I in no way think that it should be changed to work exactly like that.

Can someone tell me what's wrong with these two, this made me LOL hard.

Maybe we could have the option to choose which title we would want to have after we unlocked it? :/ Just saying.

But How about...

Achronos, what do you think of the Roman numeral on a Mythic members title bar which designates how long they have been here? (Mythic members only) Is that plausible with whatever factors you have to work with? Is as simple as a small amount of code or is it complex? I mean I'm not going to get my feelings hurt if the answer is no. If I ever wanted to see how long a certain member has been here, I just look on their profile. Improvements and tweaks are always cool, but I also subscribe to the, "If it's not broken, don't fix it" philosophy.

Either way I'm chill...

Too bad. They are meant to encourage investing in a single account - that means that as more people stick around, more will gain the title as a reward for keeping their same accounts. There won't be more added unless I decide to totally change how titles work at some theoretical point in the future.

With the ageing Bungie.net population and the already high number of Mythic Members, I think that we need to implement a number of new titles which are (see edit) than Mythic Member.
It's not as special being Mythic when pretty soon members who registered in 2008 will be given the title.

Suggestions for new titles and general discussion is welcome.

EDIT: These new titles would need to be added between Member and Heroic, Heroic and Legendary and Legendary and Mythic.
We shouldn't have anything higher than Mythic. (There is nothing higher than Mythic)

I really like Delta's Roman numerals idea.

But what about people like me, who had accounts several years ago but lost the account info, or forgot the password? Those old accounts were autodeleted, and we're stuck with new accounts and no hope of having a Mythic account, which we probably would have had years ago. I know it is the individual's fault for losing an account, but what if they had been around since '02, for example? There would be no way to show that, or even have a chance of obtaining Mythic for a few more years.

And how does group activity factor into tiles? I mainly post in groups anymore, and don't use the main forums as much as I used to. Could a user be active for 3+ years and obtain Mythic status for being extremely active in groups?

Not that bad of an idea, really.
I don't know where you'd fit the actual roman numeral but I imagine it would be something like your total number of Gold years on your Xbox gamertag.

Yes! They could put the Numerals at the end of the Title.
Example:
-Exalted Mythic Member, I - (One year, although most likely not possible, lol.)
-Fabled Mythic Member, II - (Two years.)
-Intrepid Mythic Member, III - (Three years.)
Etc.

Hmm, good discussion in here, but some of you have gone on crazy tangents.

Basically, my wanting of more titles may come down to this: 04 Mythic and 08 Mythic are both Mythic, but one of them has obviously put a lot more time into the website, yet they are made equal to the user who is relatively new in comparison.
That is not fair in my opinion.

What I'm wondering here is, why do you care? Is it really that important that a website recognises you as, for want of a better word, 'better' that someone else?

The title system isn't supposed to show who has been here longer, or who "has put more effort into the website", it's supposed to show how trusted they are. Whether they have been here 2 years or 4 years has very little to do with that- definitely not enough to warrant a new title.

The system we have now is effective because every title we have is reachable by everyone given enough time. How would giving people a title that other people will never be able to get improve the quality of this site?

Taxes do nothing to affect the share of wealth, since taxes are only applied to income.

So that's not even a part of the conversation at all, so it's pointless talking about it....

"for a "best" moral to exist, there must exist the "best" moral base. If the base of morality varies from location to location, culture to culture...then there can't be an absolute moral..

If account age is so important as to warrant some extra title, why would it only be awarded to mythic members?

Can you tell us how you reporting that you have been around for a couple of years and been punished a number of times is related to whether additional member titles are in order?

This so-called trust rating means nothing to me. I will determine how trustworthy a member is myself.

I'd rather call it an Investment rating. What I want to see is how much a member values this website site by looking at how much time (since joining) and effort (posting, groups, linking GT) they have invested in their Bungie.net account.

This is why member titles mean so much to me, because this is what I see in them.

Two important things to remember:
- Your character is a result of your conduct.
- Sense of humour trumps common sense everytime.

Instead of altering the title/trust system, why not thin the herd a bit? Have the -blam!- filter not apply to Mythic members, and when something inappropriate is posted (in, or even out of, the proper context, as the case may warrant) go straight to a ban; no warning as they're Mythic, they know the rules anyways.

Or something.

No offense, but that's just stupid. It's like setting someone who's been here for ages up for disaster. There's no difference when a Mythic Member says -blam!- and when a normal member says -blam!-. Not only that, but swearing isn't against the rules at all (Well, if you bypass the filter it is.)
Either way, Bungie.net =/= Club Penguin. Profanity is allowed.

No offense taken. Merely suggesting different options to address the OPs concern of there being too many Mythic members.
I think it would only work with some extra due diligence enacted by the moderators and the Bnet community.
And: Increased workload on voluntary moderators =/= Good thing.
