The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realise it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

LOL this thread reminds me why i don't like this forum.

It's not as special being Mythic when pretty soon members who registered in 2008 will be given the title.

:D

What's beyond Mythic? Epic Member? EXTREME Member? Ancient Member?
This is what I was thinking, what can be included?

Can't there be only a certain number of mythic members at one time? I've always been baffled by the system to be honest.

It is either 200 or a number ~200.

I think the cap got lifted.

yup

With the ageing Bungie.net population and the already high number of Mythic Members, I think that we need to implement a number of new titles which are (see edit) than Mythic Member.
It's not as special being Mythic when pretty soon members who registered in 2008 will be given the title.

Suggestions for new titles and general discussion is welcome.

EDIT: These new titles would need to be added between Member and Heroic, Heroic and Legendary and Legendary and Mythic.
We shouldn't have anything higher than Mythic. (There is nothing higher than Mythic)
From my understanding, Skibur is saying that some users who created their account in 2008 will eventually become Mythic Members. This requires them to have good behavior and be active for quite some time. Mythic Members who have shown good behavior and have been active several years longer, however, should not be seen as the same (they should be trusted more). Creating more roles would create more levels of trust. Therefore, you wouldn't have a 2002 Mythic Member and a 2009 Mythic Member.

I see the point he's trying to make, but here's my input. The trust system was implemented to promote good behavior and give you an idea of how much you are trusted. Year after year, more accounts will be created, deleted, promoted, and demoted. The solution isn't to keep creating more forum titles to make the oldest members stand out, even if they are more trustworthy. If that's what Bungie wants, they should just say how long you've been that title for (ex. 5 Year Mythic Member, 2 Month Heroic Member). When you get banned, you'd start over from the beginning.

That would work, but it's not something I think would be beneficial for the site. Instead, why not have the title bar colors and text differentiate the security roles of Bungie.net (group 1)?

The forum titles would be like a reward system. Let's say you are active for X number of days, you can pick a specific title that describes you as a contributor. If you don't get banned for X number of years, you can pick a title that describes you as a trustworthy person. Maybe, you unlock achievements in Halo: Reach... you get to pick a title that describes how awesome you are as a Sniper or assisting your team. These are a few examples, but with Bungie's creativity, I'm sure they could have hundreds of cool titles to choose from.

The elitism that some members whine about wouldn't be there because nobody could tell if you just like a different title or if you don't have a title because you can't unlock it (haven't met the requirements or currently/recently blacklisted). With a hierarchy, it becomes a popularity issue. Posts by Mythic Members shouldn't hold more value or stand out more than posts by Heroic Members.

Your actual trust rating can only be viewed by Bungie. Your blacklist history can only be viewed by moderators. So, in my opinion, titles should tell others about who you are, not how trustworthy you are. The system would still promote good behavior because getting banned would have the same consequence as it does now; you'd lose your title.

Hey I make Machinima using Halo 3 if you would like to help the message me on b.net.

I don't really understand this whole trust thing and here are a few reasons why.

1. Oh hot damn you are an Exalted Mythic Member (using Skibur as an example) that means Bungie is totally going to like trust you more and give you secret information about their next game. I think not what special treatment have you ever gotten because your such a high ranking member? OK yes maybe a couple of messages here an there asking how long you've been here..blah..blah... But really your pretty much no different than all of us. The only titles I would consider different are Forum Ninja, Master Forum Ninja, and whatever Bugie employees have.

2. If the ranking system is like trust why (even if you do nothing wrong) can it be taken away? If your not online for two or more months you loose it all and have to start over. Come on, but doesn't that seem just a little flaky on Bungie's part?

Posted by: Skibur Suggestions for new titles and general discussion is welcome.

I would like to see some different color text, so for whatever color your title bar is, is the same color of text. So Skibur has blue there for everything you would see from him would be blue.

Maybe some different color title bars like red, green, purple....... Leave the way most of it is, but change some stuff.

Title bars:
There are some that no body ever sees because that person was a test for Halo CE/2/3. There are titles like webcam MVP where you had to be there in order to get.

If they put in new titles:
1. Mythic shall always be the highest, if your mythic now you'll always be mythic.

2. There should be more between the years, meaning it takes around a year to get honorable so why not have something at six months to keep that person form getting bored? IDK I'm lost now.

Don't get me wrong, I think it sounds alright in theory. But the whole choosing your own title, unlocking them, just seems... messy.

It would support good behaviour and most likely lower the level of elitism, but I don't think it would go too well with bnet.

Woah, found a problem here. Unless you increase the trust rating required for Mythic, it isn't going to matter how many titles are in between, as the same level of achievement is still required.

Say it's a 1k relay race, you can have 3 change overs or 100, but it's still going to be 1k, no matter how many stops you put between the start and the finish.

And yes. I'm guessing that I'll be Mythic by 2011. It really isn't fair for the 2002-2006 Mythic members.

Hmmm. . . I can't really think of anything.
Thats when Prefixes come in. Most of the people who have stayed on this site long enough will get a "Senior" prefix next to the Mythic title.

no. nonono

The only problem is the influx of Mythic members.
I vote we blacklist every second Mythic.

If the damn activity prefixes didn't jam everything on the list. That's the problem here. There will never be too many Mythic Members, but it's dull seeing every single member legendary and up with the title "Fabled" until they get exalted.

This is true. It'd be cool for some more unique titles for more situations. Simply posting a lot or having no bans for periods of time and being members for a long time don't feel like unique enough of titles. At least not in terms of variety. I did feel different when I was Intrepid, but now I'm Fabled. Meh.

I quite agree actually, i can not think of any but I sure would love new titles.

It's a shame it is against the rules to call you out on your rank, seeing as how the level you play at greatly affects the opinions you hold (on gameplay). Generally, if you are bad - Your opinions are wrong, and your argument is invalid.

GG

lol I registered in 2008 and I am still a member. I post regularly, yet my friend who has only posted here like 10 times is an Honorable Member, and he signed up after me.

I have given up on the whole member title thing. Why can't one of the web team just give some sort of adequate response to people who want to know how it works. Because I have absolutely no idea.

If they can't give a reasoning behind the system. they shoud scrap it and follow what most forums do and follow a post count system. And they can set restrictions like posts in *Forum A* don't count.

And by being banned, well the punishments can just get harsher so people don't spam as much in other forums.

Simple.

The prefix "honourable" is based off of ban history. I am guessing you have been banned/warned, and your friend, has not.

The more people know about the system, the easier it is for people to abuse it. Also, I see no real reason why they should reveal it in detail. They know what they are doing.
