With the ageing Bungie.net population and the already high number of Mythic Members, I think that we need to implement a number of new titles which are (see edit) than Mythic Member.
It's not as special being Mythic when pretty soon members who registered in 2008 will be given the title.
Suggestions for new titles and general discussion is welcome.
EDIT: These new titles would need to be added between Member and Heroic, Heroic and Legendary and Legendary and Mythic.
We shouldn't have anything higher than Mythic. (There is nothing higher than Mythic)From my understanding, Skibur is saying that some users who created their account in 2008 will eventually become Mythic Members. This requires them to have good behavior and be active for quite some time. Mythic Members who have shown good behavior and have been active several years longer, however, should not be seen as the same (they should be trusted more). Creating more roles would create more levels of trust. Therefore, you wouldn't have a 2002 Mythic Member and a 2009 Mythic Member.
I see the point he's trying to make, but here's my input. The trust system was implemented to promote good behavior and give you an idea of how much you are trusted. Year after year, more accounts will be created, deleted, promoted, and demoted. The solution isn't to keep creating more forum titles to make the oldest members stand out, even if they are more trustworthy. If that's what Bungie wants, they should just say how long you've been that title for (ex. 5 Year Mythic Member, 2 Month Heroic Member). When you get banned, you'd start over from the beginning.
That would work, but it's not something I think would be beneficial for the site. Instead, why not have the title bar colors and text differentiate the security roles of Bungie.net (group 1)?

The forum titles would be like a reward system. Let's say you are active for X number of days, you can pick a specific title that describes you as a contributor. If you don't get banned for X number of years, you can pick a title that describes you as a trustworthy person. Maybe, you unlock achievements in Halo: Reach... you get to pick a title that describes how awesome you are as a Sniper or assisting your team. These are a few examples, but with Bungie's creativity, I'm sure they could have hundreds of cool titles to choose from.
The elitism that some members whine about wouldn't be there because nobody could tell if you just like a different title or if you don't have a title because you can't unlock it (haven't met the requirements or currently/recently blacklisted). With a hierarchy, it becomes a popularity issue. Posts by Mythic Members shouldn't hold more value or stand out more than posts by Heroic Members.
Your actual trust rating can only be viewed by Bungie. Your blacklist history can only be viewed by moderators. So, in my opinion, titles should tell others about who you are, not how trustworthy you are. The system would still promote good behavior because getting banned would have the same consequence as it does now; you'd lose your title.
