Subject: How to continue playing old xbox games including H2, even after 4/15.

INTRODUCTION

First off, this topic was re-created by me because someone else stole my topic idea and posted it with a correct subject. (The old one was called "What is your opinion on this")

NOTE #1: EXTREMELY GIGANTIC WALL OF TEXT UP AHEAD. IT IS SPREAD OUT IN DIFFERENT POSTS TO MAKE SURE I DON'T GO OVER THE 10,000 LETTER LIMIT.

NOTE #2: ALL OF THE FOLLOWING WAYS OF PLAYING H2/OLD XBOX GAMES ARE COMPLETELY 100% LEGAL AND FREE. THE ONLY EXCEPTION IS IF YOU DECIDE TO GET XBC PRO.

NOTE #3: THE GAMESPY TUNNEL DOWNLOAD IS CURRENTLY OFFLINE.

NOTE #4: I AM IN NO WAY TRYING TO TAKE USERS OFF OF XBL.

There are a few things you can do at the end of Halo 2 and all other old Xbox Live games. (This also works with some other consoles, as you will see)
1. Whine and cry that you'll never play again.
2. Play until the very last day, get the best outta the game!
3. Buy H2 Vista for $20 on Amazon and play on PC.
4. Continue playing on Xbox with Xlink Kai.
5. Continue playing on Xbox with XBC a.k.a. XBconnect
6. Continue playing on Xbox with Gamespy Tunnel Software.
(See the bottom for reminders and games playable on each)

The three that should surprise you are the last three, XBC, Xlink Kai, and Gamespy Tunnel
Xlink Kai (http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/)
The above site will have support if you can't get it set up or just flat out don't know what you're doing.
DOWNLOAD: http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/?go=download
NOTE: You can either use the 7.4 Beta or 7.

XBC, a.k.a. XBconnect (http://www.xbconnect.com/)
The above site will have support if you can't get it set up or just flat out don't know what you're doing.
DOWNLOAD: http://www.xbconnect.com/index.php?topic=downloads
NOTE: The two downloads towards the bottom are free, unlike the Pro version

Gamespy Tunnel Software (http://www.gamespyarcade.com/support/tunnel_xbox.shtml)
The above site will have support if you can't get it set up or just flat out don't know what you're doing.
DOWNLOAD:http://www.gamespyarcade.com/support/tunnel_xbox.shtml
NOTE: The download on the page isn't currently working, and even when you do download it, you will also need Gamespy Arcade.

XBC, Xlink Kai, and Gamespy Tunnel Software are all simple programs used to make your Xbox play System link with people that aren't actually linked to your Xbox, so its basically XBL. Each one has a list of games it can play and differs from the next one, right below this I will show you the differences.

P.S. If you are going to skip through the lists of games, just make sure you read the notes at the bottom of each post, thanks!

halo is not tactical or very team oriented. its not like "Dieter, frag and clear on zulu. Loiselle and Price, yoo fall in on my lead. Go! *boom, door breaks and some gunshots heard.* Tango Down! Gold Element, secure hostage. Blue Element, regroup at objective rally point." its usually more like, "yo i gots rockets, ima go camp in the sword room" which you dont even have to say. my point is that you dont need to communicate in halo

I was thinking about getting XBC and I might after H2 stops

Dam, I miss the old days playing halo 2 with my old brothers in arms. Thank you my old friends for giving me this account, I shall continue our legacy.

Xlink and Xbox connect are both free, good luck in finding a good host though if you don't want to host matches.

Want to see advanced Halo stats not offered by other Halo stat websites? Check out MetaHalo.com, the stats website I am working on. Reach stats currently in development.

Like BTB? Check out bigteambattle.net!

I've used Xlink Kai for years now, so I recommend that.

I've used XBc on my original Xbox before, but I'd like to play Halo 1, but it's only on my 360.

Yes, it does work with 360 and regular. Also it works with the other consoles that are listed.

Basically, it isn't XBL though, it is one of the different programs that I mentioned.

Okay, thanks for the info, I personally don't have the Original Game Download yet have the actual disc. I'll test if the actual disc works online later (may have to do it tomorrow).

Hey guys I think me and Starfighta are starting a XBC game tomorrow around 6 PM EST. There will be another topic concerning it tomorrow.

  • 04.15.2010 8:51 PM PDT

About how many people are still using each of the services to play Halo 2 online?

  • 04.15.2010 8:55 PM PDT

Well, theres different amounts all the time.

If you're looking for the most, I'd say go with XBC, I'm pretty sure that more people know about it.

Keep this thread alive (don't bump, just ask any questions you have and i'll answer, if you're thinking about making a statement, just make it.) so more people can continue the awesomeness of Halo 2!

  • 04.15.2010 9:03 PM PDT

So I somehow have to connect my 360 to my computer?

  • 04.15.2010 9:41 PM PDT

Hey pumpkin
This is a quote directly from www.XBconnect.com

If you got a PC, broad band internet and a game console, then all you need is XBConnect.

Hope I helped.
No cords,
PC.
Xbox.
Internet.
XBC.
Halo 2.

Win.

If you have a network that has an Xbox and/or 360, a computer, and an internet connection on it then you have everything you need. The computer and the Xbox do not need to be directly connected to each other. You just need to have them on the same network. If you use wireless on your Xbox/360 then it is best that your computer be wired. Having both wireless can lessen your chances of a good experience. Having both wired is optimal.

The software receives the LAN data from your Xbox over the network. It then tunnels it over the internet to the Xbox's of the other people in the channel. So if someone you are in a channel with hosts a game the software will tunnel the data from their Xbox to you and the software will send it out so that it appears to your Xbox that the other persons Xbox is present on the network. You will see the game in your list and you will be able to connect to it. It works exactly the same as system-link with the addition of the computer and software.

So basically... Xbox-A<->Network<->Computer<->Network----In ternet----Network<->Computer<->Network<->Xb ox-B

  • 04.15.2010 9:57 PM PDT

I see, I was just confused about how to get it linked with my PC, so it has to be on the network. Luckily I have Wifi in my house.
