All you have to do is make a "What-do-you-think" forum (not a complaining forum) so people can post their constructive/unconstructive criticism or thoughts about what they think of Bungie. It will keep complainers out of New Mombasa, Zanzibar, and every other forum out here. Nobody has to look at it, and so therefore nobody will feel offended if someone bashes their favorite game or gaming company. But Bungie can look at it so they can get suggestions from their customers. If someone posts complaints in New Mombasa, it will be moved. If this is implemented, the foum environment will become what it was before people started complaining about Halo 2: A fun place to discuss our favorite games with people who share similar interests.

[rant]I remember on an older account I had when people would go on about how they did this fun trick on Halo CE. Everyone would congratulate them on their find even if it was old. Now, when people post a trick about Halo 2 that was already found, some immature user comes up to them and says: "Quit posting old stuff you noob." This, I find, is very sad. If nobody has the courtesy to be polite on Bungie.net, then those people shouldn't have the privledges to be on this site.[/rant]

Oh, sorry for the rant. Anyway, just post your thoughts and opinions, but no flames.

Edited for clarity.

1) Either way, people are going to post their complaints outside of the complaining forum.

2) What would really be the whole point of that? It would only mean more work for the moderators. People would post off-topic posts there as well.

3) Besides, it's different opinions that make these forums fun, or at least, interesting. If I made a topic, and everyone was just saying "Yeah, I agree." or "That would be cool!", things would get pretty dull. But once someone says something with a differnet opinion, it starts a whole new conversation.

Its a straight forward idea BlackEye, how could you post off-topic stuff in a forum dedicated to complaining? (And) Implementing a complaining forum wouldn't instantly make every one agree. It would simply remove the spam and flames (if that's even possible).

In an ideal forum, this could be possible but this is bungie and they're up to there elbows in god knows what...

Edit:Great idea, just maybe not here... How many members is it now?? The site would implode!

But people can still read their complaints. It'll just be in a different forum where it won't create problems. And I'm fine with peole who have different opinions, just as long as it doesn't turn into a flame fest.

I share this view. It won't stop complaints, people will still post outside of the Complaints Forum, and sure enough, complaints about the Complaints Forum (or should I say box) would soon emerge wherever people feel like putting them. And some people just have to be arses and would deliberately complain outside of the dedicated Forum to infuriate. Besides, it's hardly professional for a big company to have something so profoundly childish on their website.

Here's a better idea: How about a tell-us-what-you-think forum? So instead of just complaints, you can post compliments and criticism. This is probably a more constructive idea for the site. And the whole purpose of this is to reduce the ammount of complaints in the public forums. It is impossible to eliminate it entirely.

But at the same time, pretty much what all of the Forums are intended for. The Septagon for Bnet discussion, etc. You'd still get problems in a Forum like that.

Well, it's a better way for customer feedback. I would rather look at a dedicated forum in which I can read what people think than to sift through hundreds of threads to find out what people think about the company. It's just an idea to traffic thoughts and concerns for Bungie so it can be a better company.

Edit: And besides, you're always going to get problems in a forum whether you like it or not. There wil always be people who do that.

-Quaere verum.

Got a report? Use the report tool or send a pm.
Chairleg Productions presents: 'Console Wars' and 'Games as Art?' (also on Halo Waypoint).

Nice idea, but you may aswell call it a "Spam and Bungie Bithcin" 'forum.

It would be just... horrible. Think Zanzibar 70 times worse.

I doubt it would work. Bungie would have to hire new staff to look through the mass of threads because the current Community Team would simply not have the time. And they'd also have to sift through all the worthless threads. Although the idea is good it's just not a realistic and achievable target.

  • 08.04.2005 12:02 PM PDT

I'll be on my own side.

theres no real way to stop people from complaining. even if Halo 3 came and totally kicked the -blam!- out of all of us, and it was the best game of all time, someone would find something to complain about. It's just not pissible to stop them from complaining. and thats why we have mods

  • 08.04.2005 12:04 PM PDT

In addition to what Psyched said, I don't think that having a "Complaint" forum would look very professional on Bungie's website. It would almost be comparable to them yelling out "This game has problems and we know it, so come here and complain about them!"

Zing!!

"...a forum didicated to complaining..."

Wasn't that the point?
Not that, a forum which supported compliments wouldn't be a bad idea either 8)

How about we just get rid of all of the forums. This way there will be no problems....

That, or someone would post group advertisements...

Ok, since I see nobody is reading the entire thread, I'll edit the first post for clarity's sake. Just reread it and then you'll get a better idea of what I'm talking about.

I'm sorry this would plan would fail, and fail miserably. You can't channel negative activity to a certain place, when dealing with human beings. Some or most will not follow the rules. You will get it all over the place and you can only fight it once something wrong has been done (with moderators).

If people want to complain, they can go complain to themselves. Don't do it on a forum, because most likely no one cares.

Why does society bring down others so they can try to get a higher status? I have no clue, but I do know that answering repetitive questions is irritating.

I've got a better idea. Listen, this will solve the problem completely.

Why don't you shut off registration, delete all existing accounts, and close the forums?

I'm goddamn brilliant. Seriously, if you let the average Joe sign up at any website, you're asking for the mess these forums are. That's the way it is, get over it.

To Make Posts is Glorious

Some threads will get posts before others and it is the duty of the Leadership to ensure that posts are made that best suit the public welfare.

Having a forum about complaining would only encourage people to complain. It would have the exact opposite effect of the intended purpose.

Like Stick said, the only way to stop complaining altogether would be to shut down the website.

No, it prevents complaining on the public forums to an extent, not altogether. I just think having an opinion forum (not a complaining forum, I changed the idea) would be a good idea for Bungie so they can hear the thoughts of their comsumers. I know there would be a lot of whining in the forum, but it still is going to happen anyway no matter what. People are like that.
