Subject: Anyone else disappointed?

Hai =)

I got ODST and was extremely disappointed. Don't get me wrong- firefight is pretty fun, but the campaign is kinda lame. Am i alone here??

Winner of the 2012 Lurker of the Year award.

I'm watching you.

I liked it.

Hai =)

I find the campaign mode a bit confusing... are you playing two different characters or what?

You play as several different characters through the course of the game and some of the missions are really fun.

Hai =)

Pft. The guy above just said you play as different characters. I work third shift so i have to sleep during the day, and I've been playing just parts here and there. I was confused because one second it's day, and then you're playing someone during the night, like it's a flash back or something. Maybe I need to play it in one sitting where i'm not half asleep, but besides that, i found it confusing.

I'm stubborn as long as I'm not wrong. Prove me wrong and you'll get an apology.

You play as the Rookie during the night.

The scenes during the day, save the very end, are all flashbacks.

You play as the Rookie, Buck, Mickey, Dutch, and Romeo.

You play as the Rookie when you go get the clues to find out what happened, and it will say who you're playing as during the loading screen I believe?

You also play as the Rookie after you find all of the clues and enter the ONI underground facility, you then play as the Rookie when the sun is rising.

To figure out who you're playing as (if you forget) just press the Back button and go to the map, top left is who you are playing.

that... makes a lot more sense. Hah. Thanks. I'm going to have to restart the whole game and try to play it myself. I've been doing co-op with the boy so i miss some scenes here and there. Thanks again =)

Hai =)

rabble rabble rabble.

I'm going to have to now, won't i?

  • 04.05.2010 11:02 PM PDT

Nah, I wasn't disappointed in the least bit.

This game is awesome when you get a few buddies together for some co-op shenanigans.

Hai =)

I would love to.

I liked ODST's campaign more then I liked Halo 3's campaign.

Don't take life too seriously, no one gets out alive anyway.

Yea I was disappointed, but then again it was an expansion pack marketed as a full game. I'm over it by now, but it didn't live up to the hype imo.

Hai =)

Well I realize now that I should probably restart the whole game, because I've missed some of the story line. That's what happens when you try to play co-op and the other player goes on through the mission without you.

Yeah, the Rookie's mission is set 6 hours after the drop. And at the start of the other missions it will tell you who you're playing as and how long after the drop it is.

Personally, I think ODST has the best Halo campaign so far - it's fresh and new :)

I wasn't disapointed at all. I did my research about it before I bought it so I was aware that it wasn't exactly a full game and that Firefight wouldn't have matchmaking. I really liked it and I think that in some ways it is better than the previous Halo campaigns because it doesn't contain the infamous bad Halo level i.e The Library from Halo: CE, most of the Arbiter levels in Halo 2 and Cortana in Halo 3.

ODST also delivers a cliffhanger and plot hole free storyline, something that Halo 2 and Halo 3 never managed to do.

I found the Rookie scnes very boring, especially as you're supposed to be searching the the ruins of the city for your team-mates but their last locations are installed onto your HUD somehow. This kind of defeated the purpose of searching for them when all you're really doing is walking a long way.
However, the actual missions were great fun, especially on co-op, and firefight is a blast with friends, plus you get all the H3 maps as a bonus. You pretty much need friends to have a lot of fun with ODST to be honest
