I don't know what Tribes is, but I don't think I'd like a jetpack.

Too much of an overused cliche these days, and it wouldn't be that great anyway.

There might be something with mastercheif using a perpoltion system in space, but thats about it, and that would really only be to turn and -blam!-

Who needs a jetpack when a couple frag grenades can launch you into orbit?

That would be the stupidest idea I have ever heard. Master Cheif with a jetpack. Are you kidding me? That would be almost as bad as putting that damn water pack on mario.

:O! JETPACKS! COOOOOOOOOOOL Not!
have you seen those stupid comics from the 1980's?
stuff like thunderbird, those cartoons/comics although some people like them...in my opinion THEY ARE STUPID

Once upon a time there was a game called GoldenEye for the N64... that game was simple and kicked. Then, out came the Xbox, and with that came 007: Agent Under Fire. That game had a jet pack. That game also sucked face. Point in Point... to much stuff that was meant to be 'cool' ends up making a game crap.

don't knock jetpacks. tribes is an awesome game. they're making a prequal called tribes:vengence that comes out in oct and has open beta starting prob sometime in aug.

regarding jetpacks in halo 2 though, i don't think it would work well. i think what you may be thinking of is there are like air lifts that shoot you up instead of having to use ladders.

Nobody is hating on jetpacks. They are fine if the game is designed for them. Tribes is a prime example. The gameplay has resolved around using jetpacks and how you can move any direction you want.

Halo wasn't designed with jetpacks so that shouldn't be put in.

That would kind of make the banshee an easy kill i mean jetpack + rocket launcher = one tough anti-aircraft gun.

There probably wont be a jetpack but there is talk of a low gravity moon multiplayer level that you can jump 3 times as high, almost the same effect

Yeah, jetpacks don't fit in halo at all, i don't even think low gravity fits now, since you can jump higher anyway. Also BentTwig, awesome sig, Chris was the greatest.

jetpacs would balance the game very well against flying vehicles (no 1 like to be a attacked from above and not being able to do much.

I think the vehicle homing feature on the rocket launcher balances the game enough against flying vehicles. Kind of like the AVRiL from UT 2004

I'm a big fan of Tribes, although you'd have to make sure the jetpack thing was controlled, and actually useful.

i don't think the controlls would lend themselves well to halo 2 or any consol game with dual weild. to be able to use jetpacks well you have to be able to hold down a button for long periods of time. with both triggers used for weapons, jetpacks just wouldn't be very usable.
