"The enemy came. He was beaten. I am tired. Goodnight."

"I think Reach is a pretty cool guy. eh drives froklifts and doesn't afraid of anything."

Is this Halo: Combat Evolved or Halo: Custom Edition? And what exactly happens when you try to run it?

I just installed Halo: Combat Evolved earlier today on my Windows 7 rig, and I found that using a compatibility mode only makes things worse--the game can't find a file (which I forgot the name of) which is necessary for the game to run.

Just running the game normally, I got an error message that my computer does not have enough RAM to run Halo, yet my computer has 4 gigabytes of RAM, not including the 1 GB on the video card. The window gave me the options of either just running the game normally or running in safe mode. I chose the first option and the game worked fine, at least in the first three levels.

I did not update the game yet.

It works for me. I'm using Windows 7 and I can play Halo Combat Evolved with no problems. Did you update Halo?

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

This is a long shot, but try the strings.dll from halomaps. Back up your original version first! This may only address issues with high video RAM, but hey, try it anyway.
