i think that the ammo will be aside the needler like there will be the weapon the a magazine of ammo next to it so you can pick up the needler and then walk over the ammo, in other words the weapon and ammo will be seperate.

you'd prob pick up all the ammo you could, and the needler would remain even if it was empty so you could duel weild it. least that makes most sense to me.

o yea i have another idea to go along with ices, you pick up the ammo for it then the needler empty but then the ammo evens out between them kind of like brute force.

In the demo, it showed rocket ammo and a rocket next to it!

So... the ammo IS seperate, be still close to the weapon!

i dunno, u can't duel weild a rocket, and i didn't see ammo near any other guns.

I meant that that might mean that guns with ammo have the ammo next to them!

i think that was just cause that was where the rocket launcher spawned. it'd be pretty annoying to have ammo also drop when someone died. if you're carrying 3 weapons that's a lot of ammo going all over the place. plus that burdens the game engine unnecessarily.

I agree with the guy that said about picking up the ammunition but the needler still being there. That makes the most sense to me. I know in HALO, if you walked over an ammunition weapon (as opposed to a batery weapon) the gun would disappear if you picked up all the ammunition. They probably fixed this in HALO 2. It kind of aggrivated me that I could not empty the grounded weapon's magazine as well as the extra rounds.

Example:

Say I have a shot gun with 12 shots an say five extra rounds, then I find a shotgun that has nine chambered rounds and 10 extra. If I walk over the weapon I pick up 10 rounds, I do not get the full 19.

::shrugs:: Do not get me wrong, I still love HALO, but that was just one of the few small problems I have found. The worst part was that then the gun would disappear, so if I ran my shotgun out of ammunition totally, I could not back track and pick up the other one with the nine rounds still in-chamber.

I think we’ll all find out on one of two days. Let’s just wait for a definite answer.

i never actually thought about this, its an interesting question, one i doubt we will know the answer to until we probably play Halo 2, i hope that it doesnt turn into some complicated swaping system of ammo and guns and stuff, i just can see how confusing it could turn out to be

Here's an idea that I forgot.......
We could ASK one of the MT.DEW winners or someone who played the E3 demo!

heh. also, if you have 2 of the same weapon, do you max out at twice the ammo you can carry, or do you have to share between the 2. and if you throw out one, do you lose half your reserve ammo, or keep it all. though that may depend on the answer to the first question.

here is what i actually think will happen.....

1) if you have a needler and you want to dual wield with 2 needlers (or other double combination SMG/SMG plasma pistol/plasma pistol etc.) you will obviously have to press and hold "Y" in order to dual wield and pick up a second needler.....

2) if you are not holding down "Y" when walking over another needler it will automatically give you more ammo (just like in Halo 1 when you walked over a weapon and it gave you ammo)

i believe that this is most likely what will happen

ya , thats what i thought. But u know, it could be kinda a pain, just like every other option would be. but that seems most logical.

i agree with nightshade. maybe they will increase the area that u can pick up a weapon if u already have it out.

Like the press y thing pops up earlier. just a thought!

im sure once we get used to the "Y" feature it will become second nature....

i never think twice about pressing "X" to pick up weapons, itll just become natural and ull know whether to press "Y" to dual wield or whether you just want to pick up ammo....

:side note:

personally i dont know why someone would want to pick up ammo instead of dual wielding two needlers in the first place, unless they are in a certain situation where they want to use grenades....otherwise i think that anyone would want to dual wield the two needlers immediately....just my thought on that

it's hard to say, and there aren't many ways to gracefully got about it with the button configurations and all...this is an interesting question, and I hope that the bungie team thought long and hard and went through tests with it (as I'm sure they did, since they nearly quadrupled the test team with Halo 2 compared to Halo 1). I trust that whatever they decided has to be purely genious and we will all look back on this thread and say, "oh man! How could we have been so stupid. It's so logical!" Or at least that's what I hope.

P.S. I'm really drunk right now...it's hard to think hard and I hope I don't sound stupid...just waiting for people to come over, so I figured I'd check out my favorite,as of late, message board!

think about trying to play the original halo after you gain your "second nature"! That would feel wierd!

i will honestly and completely truthfully most likely NEVER play Halo 1 ever again, there will be no need, Halo 2 is going to blow Halo 1 out of the water, i probably wont get bored with Halo 2 for many many years, probably wont play Halo 1 until i have kids and i bring out the old Xbox games LOL

Nightshade000 took the words right out of my mouth, we shall play Halo 2 day and night non-stop, but the dual weilding weapons gives the game a nice touch.

as for the topic: I bet it'll be like this:

walk over the same weapon you're using, and you'll see "press x to get ammo, press y to duel wield" just like when you walk over a new weapon on the ground you'll get the "press x to switch weapons, press y to dual wield" easy, simple, and basically a no brainer
