Halo 3: ODST- 1.3 Million points. Campaign completed on Legendary.
Halo Wars- Private. Campaign completed on Normal.
Halo 3- Colonel grade 3. Campaign completed on Legendary.
Halo 2- Corporal grade 1. Campaign completed on Normal.
Halo CE- Campaign completed on Normal.
On the ODST forums I'm fed up of hearing the same old arguement: Noob 1: Halo 3 ODST was so bad, it was so short and there was no multi-player!!!
Noob 2: No way I am Bungie fan boy leader of the cult of 7! ODST was an expansion! Not a full game.
I just want to pull a decent conclusion about Halo 3: ODST, without being bias.
Halo 3 ODST was first designed to be a 4-6 hour expansion (DLC) to Halo 3 about a regiment of ODST's in new Mombasa. However due to some reason only people who read Bungies updates, or took a trip to Halopedia every once in a while, knew that Bungie decided to turn ODST into a full game.
People were so unsure as to what to think however most thought that Bungie would make a masterpiece as they always had. Some were sceptic, saying such a story set in one specific place throughout the whole campaign would fail and would lose it scope.
In September the following year Halo 3: ODST was released to the public at the price of $60, or £40. The price of a full game, that would be in development for at least 2-3 years. Players opinions varied differently from OMFG the Multi-player was stolen from Halo 3 I want bungiess testicles! To All hail the rookie and his scoped Pistol.
As I am unsure how to structure the rest of this post I will just list opinions generally given by players and my awnser to them. (With to fake characters, Ben Martin, and 117)
---------------------------------------------------
Ben: I don't believe Bungie released ODST for £40! It is not a full game and thus should be cheaper!
Martin: But Ben it was not Bungie who decided that ODST should be £40 but Microsoft.
117: Well it is true that it was not Bungies decision in making ODST the price of a full length game. However it does not excuse the FACT that ODST was released for £40. No matter the reasons.
Ben: ODST was to short for a full price game.
Martin: Noooooo. ODST was an expansion to Halo 3 and is aloud to be short.
117: ODST was originally planned to be a expansion lasting 4-6 hours costing about £20 on marketplace. This obviously changed, but Bungie promised that the length of the game would be increased to just less than the total length of the original campaign. I noticed that this was not true. I timed the total time I played the campaign (Including searching the streets of new mombasa.) It lasted only 5 hours and a bit.
Martin: But if you took your time looking for every single Audio thingy and went exploring it would've lasted that long.
117: Correct. But different players will want to play the game differently some will want to quickly play through it, some will play one level a week having to re-remember the controls, and some will take there time finding every easteregg and searching every nook and cranny.
Ben: Visor was crap and made it the game look like borderlands!
Martin: In lore most ODST's had visors also it made sense seeing as most of the levels were at night.
117: The visor added a new dimension of play. Martin is right it does make sense, and you are also not "forced" to use it at any point. However a few more daytime missions might've silenced a few more people.
Ben: There was NO MULTIPLAYER!!! WORT WORT WORT!!!
Martin: Yes there was the multi-player disk?
117: It is re-used multi-player. Most people who had brought ODST most probally had Halo 3 as well. So you felt like you were paying an extra £20 for something you already had. However there was firefight, although technically not multi-player but Co-op. Which also meant they did not have to release DLC for ODST. Moreover with the lack of content on ODST Dlc would have really helped.
Martin: I really loved fleshing out the characters in ODST, and the uber story much better than faceless chief.
Ben: Who cares. I wanna shoot stuff!!!
117: In my opinion except from the first cut scene and the 2nd to last, I really didn't see much in the way of the individual characters. Once the landing hit it was ALL about the mission.
Also the story seemed largly insignificant compared to Master chief and Halo. However that may not neccessarily be a bad thing. Although for me the ending was very disappointing you did not see the consequences for saving the engineer. (Which is what you were sent down there to do.)
Ben: Well at least we have a easy way to get RECONZZZ!
Martin: Yeahhhhhh!!! Now the people who owned it before ODST because of there amazing Machinimas and awesome community achievements feel like they just got robbed.
117: While getting recon is still in no way easy, it is no longer unique and special. Bungie most probally added the Recon armour varient to be achieved in ODST to bolster sales. I think they should've created a different armour varient for vidmasters. Instead of ruining the exclusivity of Recon.
Thanks for reading I hope now you know my point of veiw.
