i SERIOUSLY need a new video card. right now, i'm hanging off of a 4 year old card. i just got my pc, and that is really the only bad thing, but i have no idea what card to get. i found the radeon 9200 on amazon for 55 dollars, and i need to know if i should buy it!!!!!! my dad might not like me getting it, but our card sucks and i can't play most of my games, so if ANYONE has ANY kind of help, i'd really appreciate it.

If your motherboard is PCI-express ready then go for a geforce 6600 GT. Its twice as fast as AGP slot cards and your games will run alot smoother!

Make sure you know what type of video slot you have in the new PC, AGP or PCI-Express, motherboards come with one or the other but never both. Relex Spartan 012, he is just a kid and probably doesn't have that much money besides you only need 128MB for Halo , but it might be a good idea because newer games will utilize the 256MB. Check on http://www.pricewatch.com for video cards. Try to get a 9600 or a Nvidea 6600. Good luck.

Well I'm sorry if I came off that way, I was trying to explain to someone else that you probably had limited finances. I remember cutting lawns and saving up for things. If I never start another lawn mower I'll die happy. Anyway Click on the link in my post and lookup the video cards and select PCI it will list all the card from lowest price up. There is a Guides sticky at the top of the that has links to a video card guide. It is a long read but has invaluable information. It and pricewatch will help you find the best card in your price range.

There is no need to get 512mb cards at all. I doubt even 256 is used by even the latest games. If you only have PCI (not PCI express) slots, the best card you can get is an nvidia geforce fx 5700LE (maybe an ATI 9600 if it is PCI).

'Tis true...wow...you beat me to it chewy. Yes the geforce is a very nice card(i should know, i own it, too). Many of the newer, updated Nvidia cards can be used as well, if you dont want to spend the money.

Yeah I was trying to get a new video card, I wanted it to be about £100 but when I saw the XFX Nvidia Geforce 6600GT I was amazed at how good It sounded and I was not put off by the price tag of £145. It should last me a while and it's 128 mb is PLENTY! There is absolutely no need for a graphics card with 256mb and 512mb is ridiculous.

The best one to buy for the least amount of money would be the ATI X-tacy PCI graphics card. It has 256mb memory and a Radeon 9250 GPU. It runs halo so smothly on my computer it made me want a new motherboard so I would never lag [i have 700Mh, halo recomends 1.2Gh]. And if you have a Fry's Electronics near by it only costs $99.98! Thats good but I didnt know that they had 512Mb graphics cards!
