Dearest Halo 2,

I just played my last game on XBL. It was Team Slayer on Lockout and we won. I can't think of a better way to end my H2 XBL experience.

Halo 2, you will always be in my heart, as the best Halo of all time. Zombies, LAN, TOP, the greatest times, the greatest parties, the greatest memories.

RIP Halo 2
I shall still play you're campaign, but I bid your matchmaking farewell.

Alas poor Halo 2, I new thee well.

Oh Halo 2, oh Halo 2...its been a good ride. You might be grizzled beyond belief, but like a steely war veteran you continue to fight. Later in life your skirmishes amounted to yelling so many insults at children playing in your yard, if only because taunting you was more fun than playing on the shiny new jungle-gym across the street. If only they could have seen you in your glory days.

Your antique hitscan weapons might seem as relics to us now, but once upon a time they were the height of online perfection. If there is any glory to be had in online play, you certainly earned it. For this we should never forget, let the memory of Halo 2 live on. For he was a good game, a game that deserves only the best for his swan song. Be at peace old girl, come one now, out behind the woodshed...

Semper Fi Halo 2, Semper Fi.

Rest in peace old friend, and thank you for the nearly infinite memories. Thank you for defining part of my life, you will never be forgotten.

Before Halo 2, I was not big on online multiplayer. But after having played countless games, Halo 2 is the reason I game mostly online now. It introduced me to the greatest multiplayer and continued to provide the same awesome experience for years after. I wish it wasn't going offline, but all great things must come to an end. I hope to see spiritual successors of Halo 2 into a game like Reach. Halo 2, you will be greatly missed.

I remember going to my friends house at lunch when Halo 2 first came out. Only had an hour or so to play but it was awesome. It was my first Xbox 360 game as well. I wish now that I played more Halo 2. I'm in EST so its 1:15AM and I have got to get up early. Thank you Bungie for the countless hours of fun!

(Oh noes! My old account got deleted while I wasn't looking. This makes me sad. :( )

Halo 2 has been an awesome, awesome game. Was a big part of my life growing up, and I've got loads of great memories of playing it, so I'm sad to see it end. But you know, "All good things etc." Just glad I could be a part of it all. :)

Because of Halo 2, I met an awesome community (many, actually) and made a lot of good friend on Xbox Live. Hell, I even met them in real life. Distance wasn't a trouble. But thanks to Bungie for making this game. A lot of good memories because of a "simple" game.

Bungie, I salute all of you guys who made this game possible.

-Sic transit gloria mundi

Thank you for introducing me to Xbox Live and the hours of fun I had with it.

Farewell...

  • 04.14.2010 10:31 PM PDT

Thanks for all of the split screen and LAN play. I had a blast with you even though I didn't have xbox live when you were in your prime. I played you online today and you only made me feel like I had missed out on so much.

Thanks for the awesome campaign and even better multiplayer. You will not be forgotten.

Thank you for being the only other game I would play with my cousins and brothers, besides Timesplitters. When I played, all I saw were robots shooting each other, which I sucked at.
I still love you.

Halo 2 was my first ever online gaming experience and I can honestly say it changed my life. I'm sure this'll sound pretty pathetic, but Halo 2 was sort of like a friend. Some days the games was good to you, other days it was just plain frustrating, but no matter what you loved each and every day. Through Halo 2 I have met some of the coolest people that Im happy to say Ill still be friends with after tomorrow.

R.I.P Halo 2, Ill always remember the fun times.

Halo 2, I will miss you so. I have written you a farewell poem.

Rest in peace, old buddy.
